If you're only gonna run that 250 plus I'm guessing another 150~ of cfl? So that puts you roughly 400W~ give or take 50 or so. In a 5x5 space you want at least 1000w of light if you want the 50w/square foot I think... But if you're gonna only run half of that around, I'd say you could get away with a 3x3 tent as well. I mean you COULD get tat 5x5 tent, just saying if you're not gonna use that much light you're wasting space kinda...

Ah...no. Not good advice.

First off, a tent is no place for a 1k lamp. It's simply too much wattage for that area, oh sure it'll work, but good luck dealing with the heat problems soon to follow. He said he wants to grow five plants, not 15.

A 400 is what you want. End of story. Get a magnetic duel ballast lamp, so you can switch bulbs from halide to hps, without switching ballasts, then just use what you currently have for your clones and mother(s).

The problem isn't the light. It's the tent size. Would you get a 7x7 tent and only grow six plants in it? Just get a smaller tent with a smaller light. I have no personal experience with digital ballasts, but I'm sure you don't have to run the 1000w light at 100%. I'm sure if you got a cooltube and some nice airflow coming in, the heat wouldn't be that extreme.. Anyways, best of luck.

I run a 1000w in a 4x4x6.5 tent, with the air cooled hood and an intake fan
for fresh cool air my temps are fine.

Yes you can grow in that space with a 250w but a 600w or a 1000w would be ideal.
With a larger light it will make your life easier, you wont have to be adjusting
the cfls all of the time and it will be an easier working environment (less clutter).

Regarless what you use keep an eye on the temps because tents do warm up.

If you can supply 150-200 watts per square foot of HID lighting your doing fine and should get you smokin results. No pun intended. In a tent it comes down to environmental control. Trying to balance heat and light has always been the issue in tents. One square foot of floor space will only produce x amount of product in optimal conditions and generally once your running that many watts per foot it is more likely strain that dictates quantity. I was getting more off 2 plants in my tent then 6 plants. Crowding and humidity will rob your yield if your tent is stuffed, so less is better IMO. Good Luck

150-200 watts per sq ft. really? That would mean 2400-3200 watts in a 4X4 tent. Good luck with that! Actually 50 watts per sq is more than enough.

Hi-

I am looking to purchase this tent-

http://www.growland.cz/katalog/detail/150705-dark-room/dark-room-ii-150x150x200cm

Will that tent be enough space ?

Can you recommend wattage please ? I already have a 250 Watt combined spectrum lamp. I would like to up he wattage using CFL's also. Thanks.

simple answer is yes more then enought room

as for lighting 1000 watt system would be great.......but 2 600 watts sould be great too

anything u get make sure u have a cool tube and a strong fan if u are going to split the air flow make sure u get a set of dampners in the Y split if u can ......little tuning and u can have it spilt right .........with out it one tube would get less do to the fact of the air path being longer .............wind always travels path of least restincts
