Supercropping and Canopy Control

Day 2 12/12. Canopy is starting to take shape nicely. Fan leaves on the front right SK pushed upwards last night, hiding some bud sites.

Pics with lights off for a change, to show colors more like they are. Still got some space left and in front, but it'll obviously get full. I'll continue to bind them down and spread it all out for a few days and then I'm going to let them go up.

The branch in the center in the last pic, the one staring at you, is the one I'm misting. I read in another review someone got spots on their plants, I'm guessing he sprayed with lights on..., I don't see a difference with the others, it's actually doing quite well.

Sad to say, i decided to have a supercroping sesh and snapped a few main tops off 1 of my plants, add tot that it was the biggest bushiest plant that i done it too, so now iv got more tops to deal with, i think one of them is a pheno, because it just bushes out like made, has 74 billion tops onit now, the other 3 are 2 main tops with 2 backup tops creepin up, and they keep an even canopy, then iv got this massive bush totally untrainable, just gets outa control, interested to see if it differs in flower, to confirm weather its a different pheno.

Hey iiKode! You have to take the thicker more mature ones slow and steady. Sometimes I will start by just bending them a bit for a day or two before I get aggressive with them. Nice looking bushes! I hope everyone is having a great summer! I've been busy so I haven't been on RIU much. Will be back when the winter hits fodamnsho!

You will get that. I usually don't get too bummed since the chunkiest stalks always make the best cuttings anyways. But I can't help but always wonder what she could have been. LOL

yeah man, well i had to get the tape out last night, almost snapped on of my mains off my 3 that are actually creating an even canopy, got a 4th thats just tops all over the place its a mess lol, but tape seemed to do a good job in repairing them, i usually squash the stem and it make an easy bending and doesnt snap, but ur fingers realy hurt after it.

summers been a bitch with this weather, 30c+ all day except at night, plants seem to be handling it tho, not seen much signs of heat stress

Yeah the heat sucks! I took my (2) x 600 tent down to one light running at 450 and I'm running my 1000 @ 600. Overall in the summer I figure I would rather have less good bud than more mediocre bud. I'm trying to get rid of my old habits of pushing the plants to their limits and I'm hoping it will pay off. Got in a bit of a funk with them getting a little sick and invited mites into the room. Still taking extra measures to ensure they're all gone!

It sure does, if it keeps up (summer finally made it to NL), I will have to continue with my 400watt instead of 600. Just woke up with a rez temp of 25.5C / 78F. I was hoping to buy a used chiller locally for this rounds, but them aquarium folks got the same probs right now so the market is tight. Plants didn't look happy - no pics today :)

Nice job guys!

I'm still battling rez temps. Can't freeze bottles fast enough in my small freezer. Plants still doing fine, rez smells good too. The few weeks hot weather we get should be over again soon...

Kolossus is taking up nearly a quarter of the space (corner in back left)

Obviously quite full again (since I had to wait for Tiresias Mist for them to be mature, and at the same time start using it a week 'before' the switch to 12/12), but I've done some pruning and, less than 6 days after the switch, the Kolossus and one of the SK are showing its sex. Small preflowers, but they are there:

Kolossus is clone from a mature plant so was to be expected, SK, ah well, Kush so no major surprise either. I hope the CF will start soon too, mostly Sativa so will probably take a while longer, and will continue to bind and prune those a bit longer too so I'll hopefully end up with a somewhat even canopy. Still got about 16 inches space upwards, changed lamp height only twice, once during veg, once a few days ago.

SNS 209 and a mixture of Neem, Pro-Tek and Dish Soap seems to be very effective in deterring bugs. Knock on wood.

Looks better in the sun light....lol

I am digging your Cloner man! Looks real good bro, just be careful with those sponges you are using, if its not an organic sponge you can have some problems. There are chemicals in those sponges. Not saying the ones you are using are but just keep an eye on them. I could be wrong but I tried using sponges before and my seedlings got fucked. I even tried using memory foam and bedding foam for seedlings too. Your plants are looking good bro, keep up the great work!

Yeah looks great budolskie! I'm going to take a few weeks off (growing) after this cycle, and then I'm going to build a new cloner and new flower closet, and try to get some continuity as well.

Someone just posted a DWC cloner thread in the Hydroponics forum, similar, and used water weenies. I just happened to buy one of those last week for the same reason, but after reading your post FM, I'm having some doubts. Pretty sure my water weenie is 'made in china' and god knows what toxic crap they put in it. I think I'm going to look for some eco-friendly sponges in particular. The thing is I want to use them throughout the entire cycle (in my flooded tubes setup).

+1 :) The plants, the setup, the sun, scrogging such monsters outside... just awesome.

Looks like soon that cage won't be visible anymore FM, seems to work out really well.

Not sure if it's my efforts (low DIF, less N on menu than last round) or that my plants aren't happy with the high rez temps they have in their afternoon, but it's been a week since the switch to 12/12 and haven't nearly had as much stretch as last round.

IMG_3195.jpg

I pruned branches from the weaker CF at the top right, pushed it in the corner. The Kolossus in the top left is taking up nearly a quarter of the total space now.
