Let me see if I can remember this as it was going on 40 years ago.
You'll go to court and the judge will say to you.
2 years prison time or go into the service.
Most likely you take the service but...
you end up doing it in a place called Vietnam
a place were 53K soldiers will die.
But that was 40 years ago so it's going to be worse...
They have decriminalized it since then.

If it is his first offense I would say plead guilty, pay fines and attend drug consoling and or probation.

It really sucks. I'm glad I live in NY any amount less than 25 grams is a violation. Confiscation of goods and a ticket. no jail.

I just got hit with my first possession a couple weeks ago and I got the charges dismissed on an ACOD. To bad they don't have that in Minnesota aee?

My brother got busted a long, long time a go. I decided to lend him some support and went to the court house, the Federal Court House. I went through the metal detector, they took my purse and opened it and in one of those interior pockets was a roach. The Federal Marshall just shook his head that's when I realized what he was looking at and at that moment all I could think of was going to jail in downtown Detroit. But then he just looked up and smiled at me and handed me my purse. I must have done something right in a past life because I thought I was a goner.

Minnesota's decriminalized, under 50 grams, and without evidence of intent to sell. If you weren't in a vehicle, and it's your first offense, you should have only gotten a ticket, fine, and confiscation. They're cracking down on weed, though. Because it's a big agenda item next year. Groups are pushing for both medical or legal (ala CO.)) As Balzac said, that guilty plea, fine, and drug class is a good idea.

Or, you could get a lawyer, and fight the unlawful search. Although, your being there (because it's after park close) gives them enough cause to frisk. You should move, you'll be happier somewhere else.

Possession is a misdemeanor from what I have read in their penal law.

I know I was FREAKED OUT. Lucky is all I can say. Jail in Detroit is not a place you want to be. Well, jail anywhere is not where you want to be. Lucky, lucky, lucky.

They do not mix courts with military anymore. The military doesn't want criminals anymore so they would not allow a judge to decide if you should serve the country based on a criminal punishment.

I was making a Point of how much better things are compared to the past.
We have all these young ones on here always crying how rough it is for them.
Call it a history lesson.

As far as illegal searches go things are MUCH worse today than the past. Illegal stops and searches happen thousands of times a day all across the US. The Fourth Amendment died on 9/11.

The government also learned the draft is a bad idea and that public support will not be had with taking our sons. Instead they came up with stop loss.
