Yeah man, under a 600 they lose too much moisture too quickly. A T5 light would work perfectly actually :) gives them easier light to absorb ;)

hmm. well i think adding the t-5 in the tent would make them evap even faster, because they would still be under the mh, now with the addition of the t5.
im unable to set up a separate cabinet for clones. should i just keep a white shade cloth over the tub until they get larger?

Hmm yeah definitely wouldnt recommend putting it in the tent with the 600's, it would get way too hot.

You dont have a spare cupboard ot wardrobe you could put them in? You'd need a clear lid if you were to leave them in the tent just to keep the moisture in and still get light...

i have a clear lid on them now, found one laying around that is a inch or so bigger on all sides than the tote, so its not airtight, but its holding in moisture. figured that was ideal, other than a legit dome.

i have a feeling that my lines are clogged. 90+ minutes for the one table to drain is insane, when the other only takes 10-15. and they dont fill up as high as they used to.
ill be tearing it all apart tomorrow.. :/

im also thinking about adding a couple clones, straight into Happy Frog soil, putting them under the t-5 and stuffing them in the corner of the tent where the clones are now.
does anyone have any reason not to do this?
any reason not to run soil and hydro in the same room?

has Happy Frog ever been known to carry bugs, like the infamous Ocean Forest?
did some research, but couldnt find anything.
i personally have used ocean forest, and gotten bugs from it, but never tried happy frog.

Ah ok cool, well keep the lid on until roots come out the bottom :) if they stay upright under the MH then they should be ok, will just need to be hardened off before taking the lid completely off, usually an hour or so a day without the lid will do that.

I've seen people do hydro and soil in the one tent, no real reason you cant, just have to watch out for bugs as if they come from the soil grown they will likely get into the hydro plants as well!

I haven't used either soils sorry man, i use organic compost, potting mix and perlite in mine and it works well :)

ive been doing alot of surfing,
and im thinking about instead of Happy Frog,
going with a Perlite, Vermiculite mix for cleanliness.
i just dont like the idea of bringing a buggy bag of dirt into my clean hydro environment.

debating between the 2gal smart pots that i already have,
or going and getting a couple 3 gal buckets for hempy!
i want to water these by hand, drain to waste. no more than once a day.

i plan to flower in less than 3 weeks, so the pots can be minimal sized.

im leaning more twards hempy.
more root space, and im liking the idea of the res.
how do you know when the res in empty and ready to be watered again?

i just did an earthbox grow, extremely similar to hempy,
and there was no way of knowing whether or not the res was actually dry.
just had to go by the sound of the bubbles from the stone-less airtubes i had running in the reservoirs.

Yeah sweet as mate, I had a read about those soils and they sound good, don't think I'd go as far as using them though, got my tried and true methods ;)

The humpy idea sounds good too mate, my system is sort of a recirc humpy hydro thing which has a pot inside a pot, th bottom pot doesn't have holes, just one hole for the drain pipe which goes back to the res. I think Stoneslackr on here does the hand watered humpy thing, may be worth asking him how it works. I'm pretty sure he has an air stone in each bucket though. The perlite and vermiculite will keep things moist for longer than just perlite too :)

And in your double bucket, you run your compost mix?

I think that perlite vermiculite mix is my best option right now, since I can control the moisture, and its as clean as it gets.

Just wanted to keep things as simple as I can for these clones. No extra equipment.

I'll look his stuff up, forsure.

Edison was outside my house today, replacing the power line conveniently placed nextdoor,
so they cut off the power at 10am, which was 2 hours after the lights came on in my room,
and didnt get turned back on till now, 3pm.
i havent gone down there yet, but i hope everything is ok!
all that happened was they missed one feeding, so i think everything should be fine haha. just have to wind back my timers.

couldnt find Stoneslackr...

but ive been reading alot of hand watered hempy threads,
and i think im ready to go:joint:

got my peat plugs soaked up and ready,
as well as my 2.5 gal hempy buckets, lined with 2gal smartpots i had laying around to help keep the runoff as particulate-free as possible.
the medium i mixed up, the bottom 2/3's was ratio'd at 2:1:0.5, Perlite, Vermiculite, Peatmoss in that order
the top 1/3 was ratio'd at 2:1:1 Perlite, Vermiculite, Peatmoss for slightly more water retention in the top layer.
i also added in about 1 tbsp each of Marine Cuisine, and Bat Guano., and 1/8tsp BioZeus Bacillus inoc powder. figured why not.

ill post update pics after i come back up from the garden!

Oh nah sorry man I use straight perlite in my double buckets. The perlite goes in a pot sock and then the sock goes into the top pot which drains through to the bottom pot and then back out to the res. Perlite is my favourite mediums hey :)
The compost mixes i only use for outdoor plants and breeding projects like im doing at the moment!

Spewin about the electricity too man, hope all is ok! They should be fine, it's when they're in flower that it can cause issues!

its 2 days into week 4 now,
i added nutes, full strength, with 1 gal of compost tea,
and it tripped my ppm meter to over 2,000 wherre it stops reading,
so i replaced 1/3 of the res with fresh water, and it brought the res to 1750, where i left it.

been keeping the ph steady at 5.9-6 with only 1-2 tsp of phdown a day,
and everyone is picking up!

the NLxBB / Bluedream side.

could only get a good pic of the clones i have in peat plugs.IMAG1810.jpg
the ones in rock wool look no better :( not sure what is wrong.
im keeping the peat plugs moist, and spraying them twice a day with RO water mix with 2 oz/gal Dutch Master Saturator,
watering them with 5ml/gal rapid root, and 5ml/gal of my 1500ppmish res water.

can i keep a little water in the bottom of the peat plug tray, as well as the tucker tub, to keep the bottom of the plugs/rockwool wicking moisture up?
reducing my watering? or do they have to keep drying out?

Unreal man, they have come back very nicely :D so nice and dark green too!!

I find its awlays good to give them a misting and just keep the plugs moist and not soaked until roots pop out the bottom and then start to harden off ;)

Aside from the high ph RO water that goes in,
My res ph has been steady at 6!
Very noticeable pickup, especially in the NL girls.
Been getting away with only 2-5ml of down, compensating for the fresh water being put back in everyday.

Not sure what was causing my ph to swing so much before, but its seemed to stop now. Yay!

Took two more NL clones.for the hempy buckets, will post later today.

week five today,
i think it'll be the last week of veg,
for they are way bigger than they should be for the screen/not flowering

IMAG1817.jpgIMAG1820.jpg

I made a bunch of space and set up my 4 bulb t5 in my closet.
topped both of the the NLxBB girls, to bring up the rest of the canopy, and get some good clones.
here are the new clones i took, with the two topped NLxBB girls in the Hempy buckets.IMAG1823.jpg the rest will either be planted in the buckets with the NL's,
or ill make new buckets for them, as soon as they can handle raw climate (leaning twards that)
these will be thrown into 12/12 as soon as i flip the mothers in the tent to flower.

Holy shit dude those girls look awesome hey :D so dark and healthy! Nice work man, you got them well and truly under control now! You'll get some wicked buds too ;) nice work with the wax too, looks like gold haha

Thanks man!
Just been keeping it steady at 6 like you said and they've exploded!
Crazy how none of the others showed nearly the signs that the NL girls showed.

I wish I would have had the ph steady the whole time haha. But that's the learning curve! Just glad I got it under control before they flowered haha. Can't wait to see them big ol frosty buds!

I'm hoping the hps will produce much much larger buds than the t-5's I had up.
