I'm hoping to save you some time. Quoting bible to these people will do nothing. At most it will be a seed for the doubtful among them, but that is all you can hope for unless you're planning on making this some type of theological contest. They are very bit as convinced that you are on what you believe. Imho, the best way to confront them is to dismiss their claims at face value. They are really not that different than any other type of door to door salesperson -- they are there to convince you that they have what you need.

How about, you promise to read their literature if they promise to read your copy of The God Delusion. I've given you all the verses I know, I have had better luck with showing them how illogical their beliefs are.

edit. pls dont not take this as me saying i dont beleive in jesus or god or any of that, that is not what im saying, what i am saying is that even if jesus and god exsisted, the bible was written and mis-translated by man so many times that in reality the bible we read today is most likley not even half of what was originally in there, the best way to deceive is to confuse. ;)

not only that but god did not write the bible, a man did, therefore it is naturally going to be erroneous

All those so called miracles in the bible, yet there hasn't been 1 in 2000 yrs.
A loving god, yet his way is - believe in him or spend eternity in hell, yea, that;s real loving.
They wouldn't release the slaves, so what does god do? Kills the 1st born. Real loving father.
If the bible was supposedly written by devine inspiration and is so important to god, then why did he let it get so polluted from the original version?

If they were fortunate enough to be born nowhere near the Jews, yes. Why does it matter who the laws were written for? It still paints a damning picture of one petty prick of a deity.

Religion is more like a book that tells you that hermies will increase your yield. This book also goes on to tell you that if someone tells you otherwise, you are to kill them.

What I like about it is that you don't have to be a bible buff. It gives you the exact passages so you can easily go verify the text in your own bible. I have found some differences between my bible and what is posted on the site. There are variations from bible to bible.

I did this with two JW's a few years ago. At first, they seemed pretty average, I had the same idea you had, I thought it might be fun to see what they believe and why and tell them why I believe what I believe and see what they think. I went into it with an open mind having already heard most of the arguments to support religion, but right from the start I could tell they had no intention of changing their minds. They brought up the usual tired old arguments... "The world is filled with design, just look around, how can you deny that someone made this?"... "How do you know what's right and wrong without God?"... etc. They gave me 5 or 6 books filled with religious propaganda that any skeptical person could debunk. Eventually after a few more meetings I could tell it wasn't going anywhere and anything further would just be a waste of everyones time.

The guy kept trying to contact me. I would hear it from my mom when I came home "hey, Wayne was looking for you today..", he even came to my job after I quit accepting his phone calls.

I don't think the bible quotes will do much, you don't get to be the door to door type of believer without having accepted every crazy word in that book already. They'll hear it and most likely dismiss anything you perceive as wrong as justified because God did it and to them, God can't do anything wrong. I have actually had believers justify horrible acts this way, brought that up and they just shrugged their shoulders smugly.

last time i had two ( very attractive ) young christian lady's knock on my door , they announced they were here to 'spread gods word' , i asked why would such a highly intelligent , all knowing all powerful higher being , get two young lady's like you to do his dirty work ,(it would be the equivalent of me trusting a garden slug to get an important work assignment to my boss on time) when he could illuminate his message in the sky , with the most spectacular fire work display man had ever seen . they looked at each other did a nervous giggle , and bid me good day . lol
