Can you explain to me....

Okay so what separates "Breeders" like Barney's Farm, or a shytEEE breeder from us "home" breeders? I'm pretty new to the breeding scene but it intrigues me greatly.:hump: Other than the fact that THEY have a "Brand", "Distribution","Good Genetics from pre2K", etc.... aren't they just doing what we are doing on a large scale?

might be they know how to pick good males, could be that they put in the work to stabilize the strain so you have few variations, might be that they have the recourses to come up with a full menu and market it while keeping up with demand. could be lots of things personally, I've bought seeds once in my life and it's given me plenty to work with.

You have to inbreed your phenotypes multiple times to establish a stable strain. From what I understand you need to inbreed down to an F4 to become completely stable.

Here is some in-depth information.

When it comes to Barney's Farm, there isn't much difference at all.

They slap some plants together, sell the seeds, regardless of what they produce.

NO SHIT.....I was like WTF is he talking about.....there is no difference, except I would think they have shittier strains ....they just have marketing, a place of manufacture...ie a basic business infrastructure in place to chrn them out.....do I think they make better strains then me? Huh.....Do any of them have any of Loompas Emperor Kush male pollen and female donors to recieve? NOPE I have not seen that cross from them....you are however GOING to see that from me very soon.....for myself and my friends....not the public....how about a SnowDawg BX (F) x EmperorKush(M)F2 ????NOPE......just saying man.....just because they are selling seeds and have a big business set up does not mean they are breeding the best gentics or a good breeder.....most of the FEM seeds were selected from a fucking 10 pack of seeds.......my seeds stated above and below were selected from a collective of breeders who grew out the same things (6 guys with 2 paks each of the seeds from AlphaKronic the breeder looking for the female selection as the MALE was already selected from F2 stock) (we bought these at multiple seed banks to get this supply and make it more diverse a selection) at different locations under different circumstances, nutes, enviroments, locations, states even.... and then we got together and made our selections....my cuttings though were not from seed....they were cuttings from the first set of seed runs as I was in the hospital..in order to keep up with the others I had to take them for the different enviroment and nute run, location, schedule tests to see how they ran.....we are now dissolved unfortunately but a few of us collaborate when we like...we all split amicably and everyone got their share of seeds and clones.....a collective is very difficult to be in as with the different personalities etc.....involved....egos....time constraints, jealousy....too much fun though.....this is just meant to be an EXAMPLE not a cock stroking or whatever....sorry if it comes off as arrogant....it is just a story of a very lucky period in my life that no longer exists.
Hope this helps.
Respects,
W1:bigjoint:

PS.....also no disrespect to the OP....I am sorry for the start but it IS a very good subject actually that some new guys might not think of or be aware of....That is "Selection"......the most important part of breeding. They broader your selections the better choices you have for the best specimens to breed with.

people are over thinking it. if u start with good genetics, even if you dont have room to grow many plants to choose from, you are still ahead of people 10 years ago with large selection only because the good genetic of today is stronger than the good genetic of 10 years ago. Use healthy plants with a smell or high that you like and u can create great strains of ur own. Do ur research and start with genetic from great breeders and ur genetic might surpass some of the best genetic the best breeders have to offer.

The bigger commercial beeders have the advantage of growing many plants at the same time and choose what they consider the best of a strain for growth patterns and other physical attributes that make for a pretty plant. Of course we know the true test comes from the smoking end of it or eating as the case my be. Takes lots of time and money to do this and you know they don't always get it right either. I have worked with escobars Lady Cane for over 4 years now using his first release, lmao if I live another 20 years and grow 2 rotations a year I doubt I will find what I am actually looking for. For small breeders it has to be about the love of the plant, love of the strain. I have 3 phenos that I work with and then of course they then have their different phenos which come out when bred again, how to choose? But if you are breeding for yourself on a small scale10 to 30 plants you can certainly come up with the best your genetics will allow for in time. Good Luck and enjoy
