PLEASE HELP MY BABYS!! whats wrong with them? I HAVE PICS!

And like I said in your other thread if your tap water is 7.8 your gonna have issues.
I am using PH down to bring the tap water from 7.8ish to 6.5ish ive only used 7.8 a few times during the first 5 days or so of plants life i did test runoff once and it was quite low i would say atleast 5ish what i dont quite understand it the tap water was doing wonders at first my plant was bigger then some growers on youtube for the age and since i started to try and change the ph is when ive notices problems... GAHH "stick it in the fuckit bucket"

I mentioned in your other thread about the aquarium test kit they are cheap and in my opinion more reliable then the strips. stay with it man it'll work out. If you can't flush i dont know what to suggest but if you just water with the phd water and your positive the run off is real low I would maybe read up on adding some dolomite lime as a top dressing to balance the ph a little better. Like i said man stick with it, it'll be worth it in the end.

I was hesitant to join this sight but im glad i did thanks alot to those who have given answers you guys rock happy grows to you guys :joint:kiss-ass
Every site has it's trolls man, you just haven't found ours yet, LOL.
A lot of it depends on the way you come across too.
Like you for instance, you give us the feel you have done your research already, but just aren't sure, and want our opinions, not a kid coming here and have us tell him step by step how to grow because he is too lazy to read.

HAHA you have no idea I have read pages and pages of website stuff not only on plant problems but proper technique i just like having the verification... is the aquarium test kit a strip or is it like mixing water with a chemical to make it turn a certain coloring indicating the PH? ill have to run to the pet store near by tomorrow for that :)

its the one with the chemical you drop in to the water and then you match the colour. but like i said make sure the range is from 4 to 9 or something close to that the 6 to 7.5 will do you no good. should run you 10 bucks at the most

Personally, I haven't tried the aquarium kit, but I know people who use it all the time.
When I checked my tap the first time, I used a pool kit with the drops, and followed that with one of the cheapo gauges that does light, moisture and PH.
I've even heard mention a couple times the stuff the pet store sells to adjust PH for fish is OK to use for your plant.
I can't see why it wouldn't be, but I got a chuckle from it.
I think the pet store stuff, and the pool test kits both, are under 10 bucks at Wal Mart, and stores like that.
Any place with gardening and pet section, then you could read the labels and prices and compare.
I also noticed, the last time I was at "Ace Hardware", in the garden section, they have like 2 time test kits for a buck.

And if that run off is say 5 I would def read about the dolomite lime for a top dressing it helps keep the ph up. but if the run off is to high don't add lime at all.

pool test kits to, yeah didn't even think of those lol. but i was using the strips in the beginning and I found them to be unreliable. I havn't got around to ordering a meter off the net the kit seems to work good. I havn't had any ph problems since I started using it.

On that note, I used MG moisture control last grow, and finding out my tap PH was coming at me with 7.9, I PH'ed it the first month or so with vinegar, (1 capful per liter would bring me down 1 full point) but a couple times I got lazy, then I forgot about my routine, and when I finally realized it, I still wasn't having problems, so I just finished off the grow with straight yap water left to sit out for 24 hrs unless I was feeding.
The grow I have now is in same soil, with about 40% perlite, and about three and half to four months along, with a two month veg, and I haven't tested or adjusted once yet.
Kinda worried me with the last plant, because if I checked my water before watering, it showed around 8, but after nutes with drops, no way to check, but if I checked the soil right after watering, it would show 4.5
But, like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
When she got hungery I would feed, and she would respond, so I left it alone and didn't stress over it.

Here is the one that im using now good or bad?
Those will prob. work fine for you, just as the pool kit did I borrowed from my buddy with a pool to check mine, but if you're thinking of getting into growing serious, and anticipate checking on a regular basis (and guessing by the way you panicked from a "little" discoloration, LOL Honestly, I would have waited longer, maybe 'cause I'm lazy, or what, IDK:lol:), I would recommend going to EBAY and looking into a good PH pen.
The problem with strips and drops, is that after you add nutes, the color changes, so then the drops are not accurate anymore.
I will say MOST nutes will make your PH drop, but I've never heard of one raising the PH.

wouldnt i wanna check the PH again after i add my nutes as well example... water and nutes then PH check then adjust and PH check again?

If hes watering with water 7.8 PH and he says his run off is 5 then obviously the nutes in the soil are causing his PH to drop. Am I right? If you add the dolomite lime to the soil it should help you keep the ph in the 6.7 range from what I have read. just a suggestion. just need to read how much to add

I know that, actually it will help keep your PH stable, but top dressing with it when PH is low doesn't help until it breaks down and gets into the soil.
To be most effective, you need to mix a half cup or so into your soil before you mix your bucket of soil and perlite.
Adding Hydrated lime will work faster, but is EASY to overdo or burn with.

That's why I suggested, if you're gonna get serious about it, or anticipate having problems, then invest in a $20 or less PH pen.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313&_nkw=ph+pen&_sacat=0&_from=R40
BUT AGAIN, I will say, your conditions are identical to mine.
Tap water right at 7.9-8.0, MG soil, and I don't PH at all, don't even check anymore.
My last grow even used MG all purpose nutes with no perlite, this grow is still using the MG soil, but with MG perlite, and diff. nutes.
If you're NOT going to get serious into checking your PH, I wouldn't worry about it.
