Would you like to live in underwater cities? What about living in underground cities?

What do you believe would be the pros and cons of living either underwater or underground?

You could not only live underground and underwater but also under the ocean floor cites, in sky scraper cities or floating on the ocean cities on the ocean.

Out of all of these- the underground cities, underwater cites, under the ocean floor cites, sky scraper cites or floating on the ocean cities, which city would you like to live in the most?

I wouldn't live underground / underwater because if there's an accident you're buried under billions of tons of water or dirt. Living on a floating city would turn you into Kevin Costner.

Lets just assume that everything would be copasetic and there would be no cave ins or floods.

Lets just assume that everything would be perfectly safe!

Waterworld wasn't as bad as everyone says. I can think of various movies that are much much worse.
What part of New England are you from? I'm from Massachusetts.

I noticed your "Boston strong" signature.

I currently live on the Cape, but was living in Boston for almost 10 years. Im heading to AZ in a few weeks to see if I like it.

I know what the biblical Rapture is but what rapture are you talking about? What happened in the rapture your talking about?

I live right near you, maybe a 30 minute drive or so. I live in New Bedford right now.

I believe these types of cites are the way of the future. If I was the King of the world, I would build them everywhere.

What do you believe are the pros and cons to living in these types of cites?

cabin fever obviously, and lack of natural sunlight you would have to fix that you would need some sort of mimicked light system close as possible to the natural sun and elements

To what plans, and using what energy source? You're talking complete self-contained ecospheres now. Never mind planets; they're cradles. Build'em in and of the asteroids. cn

Well we are on a pot forum and everyone on here knows about HID lights. That would be a good source but is than any other artificial light that's better?

But your right, you might get cabin fever if you were living underground, underwater, under the ocean floor or whatnot. But you could always go to the surface. Why not?

The thing about underground, underwater, under the ocean floor or floating on the ocean is that there is so much space to build. If these were used to its fullest potential than everyone could have like 10 mansions and there still would be plenty of room. I'm sure the earth could house 200 BILLION people easy or more if the earth was used to its fullest potential with plenty of space left over too. How many floors could you build underground or under the ocean floor? I would assume hundreds of stories or maybe even thousands of floors. You just cant build in the magma but all the rock can be carved out for mansions and businesses and schools and parks and whatnot. There is so much space beneath our feet that its almost unfathomable how much you could build down.

EDIT- Ants live underground and what do the ants do during the day time? They come to the surface and that's just what we could do. I also would like to get around in what I call SPACE JETS. SPACE JETS are like the harrier jet, that can take off and land vertically, and also a SPACE JET can also soar through the water and fly through outer space because they use liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen for its fuel. SPACE JETS are what they will be using in the future to get you through space and to the deepest part of the ocean as well as fly through the air.

To what plans, and using what energy source?
For the energy source, I would use either geothermal or nuclear power. But those are just the main sources of energy that I would use. I would harvest ocean currents as well, if needed but it shouldn't be needed.

You're talking complete self-contained ecospheres now.
Yes, you would need to supplement the oxygen too. Underwater would be easy to supplement the oxygen because you would just need to strip the oxygen from the water via electrolysis. Underground could get oxygen from vents going to the surface. To a team of engineers it would be easy to do, you just need power and fans.

It would be totally dope to have weed gardens growing underwater and you look out your window and see dolphins and sea turtles and sharks and lobsters and all sorts of fish. But you could grow commercially too for food production in all of these places that I have listed. Organically and hydroponic. Why not?

Never mind planets; they're cradles.
Planets are the cradles for the "little children" that don't know how to explore space like the big boys.

Build'em in and of the asteroids. cn
Yeah, that's a good idea! Why not? I was thinking that you could collect enough asteroids and comets to build planets out of them, from the asteroid belt. I wonder how many planets you could make from the resources that are found in the asteroid belt? I'm going to guess and say a lot. That's what I would do if I were the King of the world, but that may never happen.

No no no don't make planets! You don't need to throw all that good interplanetary real estate down a hole. Build tiny Dyson spheres (better, Niven rings and O'Neill cylinders) until we get diametric (artificial "gravity") technology. Then no shape is off the table.
Planets are nests ... secure but hard to enter and leave. Fledged self-aware species won't stay or want to be stuck at the bottom of a hole, which is what a planetary surface is.

For energy, you'll need straight hydrogen-1 fusion as a bare minimum, methinks. cn

Ok than, maybe small moons will do. I think it might be good for the atmosphere to have some gravity to keep the gases in place. But you could keep the gases in place using HUGE domes out of hemp plastic.

The best way I can think of to make artificial gravity would be to put a spin on the small moon at reasonable RPMs. That would pull everything towards the outside and thusly producing an artificial gravity. I would induce the spin by using HUGE rockets, maybe rockets that were nuclear powered, if that can be done.

Your a smart guy Cannabineer, maybe you can be one of My advisors if I ever become King of the solar system... LMAO! Like that's ever going to happen, but it doesn't hurt much to dream.

Where did you go to school Cannabineer? What did you major in?
