I wish everyone in the world was gay so we can permanently solve our population problem.
actually, no.
a perfunctory review of this thread has revealed that you really oppose homosexuality as a whole (including marriage equality) for many reasons: that's not what marriage is, nor ever has been "since the dawn of time", don't let my kids know that homosexuality exists, they're pursuing their rights in the wrong way, stop ramming it down my throat, you're making my kids gay, etc.
a quick re-read of this thread proves your words to be false. you have many more, deeper objections to marriage equality than the one you just listed.
i'm not stupid, and you're not the first "libertarian" i have talked to about this. libertarian is in quotes because just about no "libertarian" i've encountered truly was one. you are no exception.
Im not a "fucked up person " LOL thank you. And Im not homophobic. Anyone can think what they please. I didn't start the thread to Base on gay people. I just didn't understand how the prop was thrown out . I do now but it still doesn't change my mind about marriage between a man and a woman. The post about marriage equality or common law I agree. Everyone should have the same rights that marriage includes . I mentioned prop 215 because it is a shanty prop at best and IMO the same thing could happen. Probably far fetched. My political Knowledge is not great. In the jacked up State this country is in, Im concerned of things like this. Good morning uncle buckAnd think about this. If everyone here would mind their own business, we could all just sit around smoking a bowl. My tranny friend grows the bomb.
I also want to say that I don't take this thread personally or very seriously. I still hope Reef moves to so cal. so I can send him a rainbow flag as a house warming gift. I don't think TWS is a fucked up person or anything like that. While I am expressing my opinion, I am not trying to insult any of you.
do you have atattoos and cut your hair? just curiousIm not a "fucked up person " LOL thank you. And Im not homophobic. Anyone can think what they please. The point of the extreme example isn't that a state WOULD do it. It's that the PEOPLE would vote for it and the measure would pass. It would not work because it is unconstitutional. We have an amendment against slavery. The point is that's why you don't leave things like other peoples freedom and civil rights to a popular vote... because some people likely would vote in dumb things.See. I didn't say unclebuck proved my point previously, I said he will -- and he just did and probably will some more in whatever his response is. I think saying any state in the south would reinsitute slavery if given the vote to do so is crazy. No state would. Are there small isolated pockets of communities that might like that little area outside houston where they had to call the feds in (Vidor I believe?) -- yes. Racists exist in the south, but they are no longer any kind of voting majority.
Unclebuck just DID prove my point in his last post.
Bustin my point is there's a way to make the same argument without not giving a shit about pissing people off. MLK could've whipped up crowds of black people to scream at the other side of civil rights but he didn't. He showed people could get their civil rights by being above all that. I'm sorry if I agree with his technique more than yours makes me a homophobe in Unclebuck's opinion -- you don't know shit about me or my life to make that statement. I've had multiple gay best friends, lived with a gay person, had a friend who went by 'the queen'. Been to gay bars, all kinds of shit. Both of your last two points proved my point. Here you are harassing someone who's on your side. I'm just not on the side of BERATING people if they're not enthusiastic gay marriage supporters. I think MLKs way is best, and you can call make all the insinuations you want but it doesn't change anything. Feel free to send that big rainbow flag Mith.
what my point is obviously you pick and choose what parts of your religion hold dear to your heart, (talking about your first post) so why not just be okay with what you think is right or wrong and not what your religion thinks. religion is great dont get me wrong but you cant pick every rule and follow it and you cant pick n choose what you want is isnt a pick n mix match summer sale ,honestly as long as youre a good person and love everyone (another part of religion) you will be judged and will go to heavenLOL no tattoos and yes I get hair cuts. Don't worry, if you want to lick clam I have no problem with that either. Do you wear tank tops and dickies ?
because he stated his religion thinks its wrong for gay marriage, religion also tells you its wrong to cut your hair and have tattoos hes picking and choose what parts of the bible he thinks he should listen to while doing other parts that state no.No populace/state in the union would vote for slavery. PERIOD. It's no more cool to generalize against an entire group of people you may not like than for them to generalize against gay people. This is kind of an example of what I'm talking about too... these kind of statements and the others made in this thread are no better from one side than the other... the only thing these extreme examples serve is to create ill will on the other side and divide. I just seriously don't get how nobody on this thread in the super pro-gay rights movement can at all get the concept of one love, coming together, etc... not hurling things at each other, but working on promoting understanding and acceptance. The way the argument is made divides, it doesn't bring together... and we'd be a lot better off as a country if we really worked on bringing things together than dividing.
FYI - being able to understand the reason someone believes what they believe is not necessarily agreeing with it. If you can't get where someone is coming from, you can't begin to change their mind in any positive way. When you can understand their truth, then you have a window into working them to your point of view. I understand the position that it's a right, so the people who don't agree's point of view shouldn't matter... that doesn't mean you don't work on convincing those people. If you REALLY care about gay people, you do. Bigotry is ultimately only ended through understanding, not legal force. Gay marriage will probably become law in the country long before there's understanding.... and I think that future will be a lot better for everybody if we don't wedge the two sides but try to bring them together in the meantime. And yes, there are always going to be some people always bigoted no matter how much you try to convince them, but the more people you get on your side the smaller a minority you make them. That's how you win in every sense of the word, not just the legal one. But go on and keep attacking your allies...
PS - what is the implication of having tattoos or having cut hair either way? (not sure what this question is implying??)
you seem very defensive to me which i dont see why , tws understands what im trying to say, thats all that matters. let the guy be not okay with it. we need to be tolerant of the people who arent tolerant of gays it goes both ways,Well do you think he should follow his religion or the bible, because you seem to be confusing those I don't know of any christian religion that says you shouldn't cut your hair. Do you think he's jewish? Christians aren't bound by the laws of the old testament. Same for tattoos. I see your point in your response to him as far as following your religion and not picking and choosing... but might want to take a different line of questioning to point it out as those questions don't really apply to christianity.
I can't quote everybody cause a lot has been said in a half hour. Sunni my apologies for thinking your tattoos and hair cut comment was a skin head insult. Im sorry for my post reply . Maybe it's not religion ( Christian ). Maybe it's just ethnic morals that have been instilled by generations of religion. Like don't lie ,cheat or steal. I don't go to church. Lightning would strike me at the front door. lol But they are things I've been taught to believe in. Many people are like this. Oppression of the people is not something I believe in or was taught. Once again point taken by all. Reef you have some good points but hard to follow. No hard feelings and it's not serious at all. I just don't want to be labeled anti gay because of maybe some old views. If gay marriage is legal, Polygamy should be legal too and Im down for that . lol After all isn't that oppression ? Im out too, don't want to run into UB .because he stated his religion thinks its wrong for gay marriage, religion also tells you its wrong to cut your hair and have tattoos hes picking and choose what parts of the bible he thinks he should listen to while doing other parts that state no.
It's not as lame as this post. ^^oh great another gay pride activist, what is with this site?
I knew something was up with her. That's what happens when you give a gay mod privileges, they vent all the years of suppression in the form of thread closings, censorship and general I have power you don't mentality. Lame.
