Hundreds of bugs suddenly crawling in my soil.

It's so far away from harvest, you'd be crazy not to Drench that soil with malathion or triazicide. You'd get results asap, and no more bugs.

I'm not familiar with either of those, but I'm not anti chemical as long as its safe for me and the plants. Is that safe to spray on the plants as well?

Now that I think about it more. I do have a well with a water tank. Maybe they got into the tank and laid eggs or something? That would mean I've been drinking them. Awesome.

i think its more likely they live in the neighborhood and think your pots are a cool place to hang out...........i dont know what those are but they look like something u would find under a log
 
Yeah they could be completely harmless and just came to hang out. Lol.

I was planning on doing preventative spraying all week for moths. My weekly neem, plus I'm starting Weekly BT and weekly Spinosad. Maybe one of those will kill them if the neem/soap didn't.

I think I spotted some thrips as well. Little tiny long tan colored crawlers. Bugs suck. Well I like the lady bugs and mantis's at least.
 
those are water bugs, def in the water tank and or well......they died cuz they gota swim and live in water.......I thought it was weirtd but since u have a well and holding tank that makes plenty of sense.

Thanks for reply bro. If I find any still alive when I get home I plant to put one in water and see if it swims.

Pretty wierd that they would show up 24 hours after watering.

Has anyone used the triazacide that was recommended earlier? I might try that for the thrips if its safe.

IDK if I would use it, wasn't Triazicide the replacement for Diazinon?
Check and see if Sevin will kill Thrips, I use Sevin B/C it's safe for food crops prior to 14 days from harvest.
 
Thanks ill check that out. I know spinosad works on them but the bottle I ordered for caterpillars won't be here for a few days.
 
Well. They're fucking water bugs. Waterboatmen or whatever. I had zero. I watered. Now they're back. Only a few this time but I can see them swimming in a puddle on the patio.

I sprayed earlier and I top dressed each plant with neem seed meal before watering but I'm pretty sure these are harmless.
 
Nah these are water boatman. There always in my pool clorine and all. You had a hatch, they head for water soon after eating bugs around them. Love river edges, lakes streams or any areas with algae and small critters. There predators and eat other insects and get eatin by biggier insects. They have been beneficial maybe hard to tell. They swim right at us in pool. Trippy little fuckers and hard to kill with chems. If you look at second picture they have the two paddles sticking out. Things are fast and do bite but no affects just a lil prick. Good luck. Leave alone there fine they hatch n head to water. Put em in your pool with the kids n play dodge bug.
