My grow room is 65F lights on and go's down to about 58 lights off. It's because I have my central ac unit at my house going to my box/dresser is my temps to cold? My plants leaves are starting to turn dark green. is that bad?

Yep, too cold. Cannabis likes temps where us silly humans like it - 70-75 degrees. If by chance the lows get toward 55° they will go into shock. As far as color goes a picture would be nice, but as long as you're not getting any fertilizer burn they are probably fine.

image.jpgMy plant seems to be likeing the cold. Why is the tips brown? Are my lights to close?image.jpg There about 5" away from my plant

Just restrict some of the air flow from the ac to get your temps up 5 degrees or so. Yes cannabis can certainly handle cooler temps with no problems. But at the temps you are running are not giving you optimal growth.
If you leaves are getting dark green the brown tips could be nute burn. Its hard to tell by the pics. I do not think the color rendition is correct due to the type of light they where taken under. Some pics taken under natural light would help.

I don't think they will like it for long. It's not their preferred environment. Also, those temps will slow growth/stunt the plant. Leaf tip burn is most often too hot a soil/fertilizer. Regarding CFL's, if your hand is comfortable at the same distance from the lights as the plants, then you're fine. I run 125 watt CFL's about 2" away when I need supplemental lighting. :)

58-F lights out isn't that bad.
The only real problem with cooler temps is that it slows plant growth because the soil gets cold making the roots get cold. If your going to run cooler temps you can add a week or two too your flowering time.
There's advantages with colder temps, denser buds, brings out the purples, bugs like spider mites don't like to cold.
I'd much rather run on the cool side then have it to hot.

IMO I would add a couple more what kelvin due you have? try do get the cfls as close as possible with out burning them put your hand underneath if it feels like it's burning your hand then it will burn your plant I have mine about 3 and 1/2 inches away I have 4 45w 6500k 2 105w 6500k and 3 23w cfls for 1 plant and she doing great

Wouldnt really b able to tell u what the brown tips are from, seems like potassium.
What are u feeding them and what type of schedule are they on?

2000 lumens ft/sq minimal growth
5000 lumens ft/sq average growth
7000+ lumens ft/sq max growth

It'll get you in the ball park.
tnx, my 18,700 lumens from 135w ufo and 150w hps is actually only 4,675 lumen sq/ft at 2 feet away from plant canopy, didn't realize how much it diminished in lumens. think I will dimm down 400w in the mail to 250w so I can get over 10k at 2 feet away without needing to use up unneeded electricity, appreciated this info got me thinking a bit. rep

total lumens divided by square feet of area divided by distance from plant? or am I calculating this wrong?

edit: nvm I'm seeing total lumens/total feet squared and not coming up with reliable lumen estimate for the distance factoring in.
