Seedling health check at 6 weeks

Hi all,
The attached photos are of my first grow. Seedlings are now 6 weeks since being planted from seeds of unknown origin. The medium is a mix of perlite/potting mix/compost. Lighting is 300w Blackstar LED on 24/24 about 8 inches from seedlings. Fan is on 12/12 for circulation. There are three different seedlings, 2 in 2 gallon pots, and one in a smaller pot that I know I need to transplant soon. I water every second day using a spray bottle lightly, tap water. Soil seems to dry quickly considering I am using LED lights.

The grow room is not perfect, but there isn't much I can do about it. Temperature 50% of the time will be a little cool - won't be able to do much about this problem due to location problems. Grow area is about 2ft x 2ft x 4ft high.

Some questions:

1. Does it matter if my fan is pointed directly at the seedlings at low power?

2. How long should I have the fan on?

3. I am having problems working out if I am watering OK?

4. Should I be using distilled water?

Can I ask for folks on this forum to have a look at my photos to see what you think of my progress and any suggestions you may have.

Thanks.

1: no
2: as much as possible to give stronger stems
3: pick up the pot if its light then water if its heavy then don't water
4: ideally, or use tap water tht has been left for 24 hours for the chlorine to evaporate

btw they look small for 6 weeks

Thanks MT.
Yes, I was thinking they were a little small for six weeks myself. I was thinking maybe it was because the room is slightly cool at night time?

Thanks for your response.

Seedling health check at 6 weeks? The thread title is just so wrong...if your plant is still a seedling at 6 weeks, toss it and start over. Harsh words, I know, but they are words of bitter experience.

Well I'll tell ya, if I understood you correctly, you have light for 24 hours and dark for 24 hours, WTF, no, no, no veg state... no less light than 16 hours, no more darkness than 8 hours, I prefer a 20/4, 20=light and 4= dark and leave that fan directly on it all the time, if you have a heating prob I suggest you get some 6500k cfls and make it light at night time when it's coolest and give it dark time when it's hottest.... That there should kill a couple questions... as for watering you need to water so there is runoff coming out the bottom, if not you risk a salinity build up and nute lock out, and only water when pots are light, let it dry out till leaves start to droop, pick up pot and remember the weight, then water/feed when it starts "feeling lite" water/feed and depending where you are in the world, I use tap water, let it set out for 24 hours to evaporate the chlorine and mix nutes and water/feed....good luck and welcome to RIU

The plant's got some serious issues. Try to find some seeds or a clone and start anew. Water less, watch out for using nutrients too heavily and it looks a bit heat stressed as well. Get better soil, too. Maybe some Black gold then mix it with perlite 50/50 since it's obvious watering is an issue. Or try coco (but you'll need pH equipment) cause with coco you can't overwater almost ever. You can even water daily.

Dude check out my grow. That is 6 weeks growth. https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/662954-blackstar-240watt-led-cfl-purple.html Started in solo cups and transplanted into 5 gallon smartpots at 2 weeks. Just start over in solo cups. Use a 16oz solo cup and water 6-8 oz's every 2-3 days, no more. I made the same mistake you did. Its from constant overwatering. I had seedlings just like yours at 6 weeks old they were pitiful. It was overwatering. I started over and im glad i did.

carnt belive no one on here has actually told this fella to check his PH , make sure your ph is round about 6.2 , this is a key factor along with temp, humidity , if you have all these 3 in check your grow shouldnt have any issues .
