License deadline?

Any Canadian member renewal dates in April or May? I was wondering if you have received your renewals back yet? My friend just received his back and it is dated to May of 2014. Anyone else have the same? Strikes me a little funny when the system is supposed to be done in March 2014? My understanding was that All licenses were to have an expiry date of March 31/14 and if your renewal was less than it took to crop off, you would not even be approved. Input would be great.

I received my permit about a month ago and it's renewal date/expiry date is set for I believe April 12th 2014 if I remember correctly. For sure the month is correct. Not sure about the date though. I remember reading in another thread a comment made by a member that suggested Harper may in fact delay the new regulations by a year. He's certainly losing face in the news at the moment. If he continues to do bad stuff in the medias eyes, he'll lose even more support. It certainly appears that they'll be accepting applications for awhile yet and setting renewal/expiry dates well past their suggested date where the MMAR program ceases to exist. Who knows if he will delay his plans with MMAR but any delays I am sure are welcome by the members here. If he delays long enough before the Federal election and Trudeau wins, then I'd like to think the MMAR program will stay in place and people will be allowed to grow in their own place of residence if they have the DG permit.

Aside, does everyone have to throw down $2g for a license?
I originally paid $400 for the doc and the paperwork, now its a $200 renewal fee. You don't have to pay for anything if your willing and able to fill out the paperwork for yourself, which I am not right now. All these dates that are past the deadline really make me wonder, nice to have a little hope, keep your fingers crossed that harper shoots himself in the foot AGAIN and it will be all over for him!

Little off topic but I want to pick the experienced brains in this thread:

I took another patient under my care recently. Sent the forms off May 23rd. Upon reviewing my copies I realised I forgot to put my telephone # and email in Form D. (I know, I know. The part talking about concession number made me skip down, thats my weak excuse) Anyways, anyone got any knowledge on a situation like this?

I am going to give them a shout Monday, I'm hoping if it's a mandatory piece of info they will send the forms back asap so my patient doesn't have to wait 10 weeks for them to return it and another 10 to process again. No words describe the shame I feel right now.

My experience was that if you wanted 20 grams or less from the doctor I went and saw he only charged you $500. He'd go right up to 20 grams no problem but if you wanted 21 grams to 40 grams a day then he wanted much more than that.

If you have made a mistake and sent in your forms...it starts in one line and it takes a long time for them to get to your stuff. Then they say 'oh they screwed up and left some information out.' Then they send it back to you. It is rarely quick that they do things. But there's always hope. And when you send it back to them, the whole process starts all over again.

Be that as it may, I am going to suggest to you that Harper is going to delay these new changes he's said would come into law because my permit runs out in April. Has anyone got their permits ending in May? Or even June? I'd be curious about that and it would confirm my thoughts about Harper extending the MMAR for another year.

My renewal papers came last month, after the standard 10 week turnaround period. My permit to possess as well as my permit to grow show an expiry date of 10 June 2014. I called Ottawa to inquire about this and when they got back to me, their message was that "everything is up in the air right now". Which means no changes to the present system for now. The MMAR person that called me was of the opinion that nothing is going to happen for the foreseeable future. They were surprisingly sympathetic. I have had my MMAR permits for six years now and have never paid anything for my specialist (oncologist) to sign my papers. I offered to pay and they said it was not required. My GP never charged me when she filled out my disability paperwork or when I was still working and needed papers signed for my truck drivers licence. So, contrary to popular thought not all Doctors are looking for cash for services not covered by the Provincial healthcare system.

Great to hear...I really don't see changes in the near future, think about it...has anyone seen or heard of any major players setting up shop? These so called dispensaries will have to be in place and running for at least 6-12 months before any changes. They will be required to handle upwards of 500 clients immediately with varying scripts. I alone will require an amount of 20 zips a month. This system is meant to fail and fail it is doing. Cross your fingers and hope it get pushed for another year because 2014 is an election year. Willieboy...glad to hear you have no problems with doctors but that only tells me you do not live in Sask because they are far and few between here.

Very cool. Thanks for reporting your renewal is in June Willieboy. I thought they'd delay things and it looks like I'm right. My new question is how many months before my prescription expires should I send in my renewal? Any advice if my renewal ends in April?

The first year that I renewed I sent in the paperwork two months ahead of the expiry date. MMAR was not able to get the new paperwork back to me before the expiry date. I was pissed. A complaint to my member of parliament lit a fire under them and the paperwork arrived shortly thereafter. Each and every year since then I have sent in my renewal papers four months before the expiry date. Problem solved. If I were you I would send the renewal forms into them well ahead of time. People on these boards will tell you that you are still ok with expired papers if you can convince the Mounties at your door that MMAR is processing the renewal papers.......I would rather not have that conversation.
