I left for the Memorial Day weekend and returned yesterday. My plant has grown beautifully and i estimate to have about a week or two more, but I've noticed I've got a little spider mite problem. I haven't seen them climbing under the leaves really, which is weird to me since I read they feed on chlorophyll, but only crawling in the soil and around the pot. Does anybody have a solution to either cut down or eliminate the problem completely? My grow is 100% organic as well, so I am not really interested in using chemicals, especially this close to being finished...hope someone can help.

Hey man i had the same problem a few weeks back.. I went to the local Garden Supply store.. They showed me the greatest stuff for mites.. Its called Mighty Wash heres the link to check it out.. http://www.hydroponics.net/i/136061 Its pretty much watch that has a static charge and the bugs hate that.. I have been using it every week or so or when i notice bugs.. I also bought lady bugs and let them loose in my garden this week... But watch out dont spay the mighty wash after you let the lady bugs loose in your garden it will kill or scare away the lady bugs.. But yea man Mighty Wash is good.. Check it out... Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot. I just read up on that stuff. Where can you buy lady bugs? A pet store? And I am assuming you are growing indoors like me as well?

If they are not on the plant (which I find odd) then you can sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the soil surface and build it up around the main stem. You can get DE at Home Depot. You can also sprinkle it around your grow room so the spider mites have to travel through it in the future.

I've seen lady bugs at some nurseries, call around.
yes it is very odd..there's gotta be a million of those little fuckers crawling on the soil and around the pot but I haven't seen one pest on the plant.

I've heard of good results using habanero peppers. What you do is buy a pound of them at the grocery store for about $5 bucks or so, dice them into fine pieces while making sure you keep the seeds and split em open if you can because that's where a large portion of the active ingredient is. Put them in a pot with some water and start bringing the water to a simmer, which is just below boiling. You don't want to boil them because that starts to break down the active ingredient. When the steam rising from the pot makes your eyes wateer, its time to load the spray gun. Cool down the concoction and pour into a spray bottle. When you spray the plant, be sure to get the underside of the leaves where the spider mites like to feed and dwell of course. They will die on contact since they are so fragile and the leaves will receive a protective coating of pepper power that prevents the mites from feeding there again. The spray does not harm the plants and I have even heard of the plants growing stronger with it. The pepper naturally breaks down over time so it shouldn't affect your harvest either once its cured.
