wow you really know a lot about chemistry...
Many molasses users swear by it too but maybe the Mg and K in it is actually producing much of the improved results. That has always been my suspicion. Also, when people claim they get fatter stems when adding something with so much potassium, it's hard not to think the potassium caused it when potassium helps grow thick stems.
Rhino is such a rip IMO and I grow with Sensi. I was in the hunt for an Si, potassium-less product because I wanted the Si but something that did not change the N-P-K ratio. I found Rhino and Humboldts' S.I. (Structural Integrity) Now note Rhino is .15% at $30+ a qt !! S.I. on the other hand is 6% Si . The only thing Rhino has going for it is that it's PH perfect if that matters. I called the V&G guy who claimed to have added Si to his powder formula (this is when I was testing the free sample) and he stated that Si is about 30 PPM.I use 2 different brands. Protek gets applied when ever I use straight water and Rhino skin when mixing nutrients. The protek will curdle when added, I have found that mixing it first or last, if you let sit it will separate. The Rhino has been formulated not to do this so it can be mixed however you like and it will not react no matter how long it sits. Being hydro and especially Rockwool, silica is very important for root binding and stem development.
