Changing Light Schedule but still 12/12

I was reading this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/655291-combating-summer-heat.html , on the first really hot day of the year, and was thinking about changing my lights so they're not on during the hottest part of the day. Given my current timer settings, I would have to move things back about ten hours. I suppose I'd have to do this in small steps rather than all at once, right? So, how much can I change the timer each day without messing up flowering?

Thanks for asking this question. I want to do the same thing. Any info would be great.

Peace

You can either move the on/off time 15-30 min per day or just simply give it a full cycle + of darkness. If you are running currently 10am to 10pm but want to go to 10pm to 10 am I would turn off light at 10pm and wait 24 hours then turn it back at 10pm the next day. You are skipping a day without lights but this will work.

Do not change your light schedule once you are in 12/12. What mojobud says may be true, but you're seriously risking reverting to reveg. I haven't personally tested what mojobud is saying, so if he's tried it and it works, I'm not bashing or anything, but this definitely isn't conventional.

I'd definitely stick to your 12/12 schedule. i've seen too many grows totally ruined by people changing their timer. Even if it works, I can imagine people following the instructions improperly and then coming back and being like "i did what you said and...". No offense to the original poster and followup poster, but most people are just too stupid to follow instructions like that without messing up... lol

Not sure but I dont think they care which 12 hours of each they get as long as its 12 consecutive hours of each, they are gonna slow down a little im sure on the new schedule for the first little while but should bounce back fairly quick. but like I said, I am not sure.

Mojobud is correct... follow those instruction, which aren't that complicated, n u will be fine. Just don't give it 24hrs of light in order to switch schedule. If u give em darkness for one 24hr period during flower they will be fine. It will just be like an overcast day kinda. It won't harm a thing, and definitely won't make it reveg, that I can guarantee.

Let us know how it works, if you manage to pull it off correctly. ;)

Like what everyone else says, don't extend the day, extend the night.

Yes it has i was actually just readin a thread in this forum not too long ago... didn't seem to benefit enough to justify the extra cost in electricity is what I got out of that thread. Plus its probably pretty hard to find a 26 hr timer...

it wouldn't hermie or stress the plants enough to cause any problems, I would just do it all at once and keep going...

OK. So, the lights now go on at 8:00 AM and off at 8:00 PM. I want them to go on at 10:00 PM and off at 10:00 AM. When they go off at 8:00, I would unplug them for 26 hours (10:00 the next night), then plug them back in and re-set the timer to 10:00-10:00, right?
