Recommendations on Grow Tent

Hello, I'm getting into growing and decided I wanted to start with a small one plant tent grow. I think these item (srry about quality btw) are okay but I just wanted a weigh-in, Ive been surfing several sites and watched vids so I think I have just about the essentials except a ppm tester.Anyway budgets about $650. I'd save your money on the LED, though it may work fine and there are plenty of grows that do well with them, you would be better suited to get an HID and upgrade your fan/carbon scrubber to 6".

You can pick up a 600W cooltube for under $200, or a 400 for about 150. If you are in a medical state like I am , I see them on craigslist all the time for $50-100, you can even get an entire setup for pretty dam cheap you just need to pay attention to what you are getting in a bundle.

These guys are totally right on the tent size to.. I built mine 2x2 and with just one plant eveything is climbing up all 4 walls and I wish I had more space.

This is a single plant in a 24"x24" box and some LST training not quite half way through flower:

Search "Gotham Hydro" on ebay. They sell Lighthouse Hydro tents which are better quality and not expensive. I would suggest getting a tent that is 3x3. It is easier to grow in a square rather than a rectangle if you are only growing one plant. Just my opinion.

That seems right. I sorta forget about the width honestly, Since Im growing some hybrid first my main focus was height.:neutral:

I didn't even top mine and it still got to big really for the 2x2, I would say 3x3 would be good and would give you a little breathing room. I have a hard time fitting my fans in my box.

I would say get as much space as you have room for without it being intrusive, you dont have to fill it (yet) but you will likely end up tossing another plant(or 2) in there if you have the space.

Alright btw. Now when you say 3x3 your talking heightxlength right. Also nice setup I have the same hygrometer/thermometer. Also lights ?

Yeah it's much easier to train a large plant in a square (because plants grow round) than in a rectangle. Plus, you have more play area for your fan and what not. A five gallon container with one plant in a 3x3 with a 400w will get you a very nice yield. You may have to veg for a few weeks while you are training. Throw a Scrog in there and you're golden.

In a tent that small you will want to stick with a 400w unless your ambient temps (outside the tent) are kept in the 60's. During veg you will be fine but temps will go up when you switch to HPS. I would scrap the LED and go with some HID for sure. You want all of the light penetration you can get if you are only growing one plant so you don't want to cut corners. You can also do two Three gallon plants in a 3x3 without a problem. Scrog or some form of aggressive training is mandatory though.

I pretty much chose led because it was a small tent grow, hence less heating/ventilation issues but if its easily an manageable lighting source i'll look into it.:mrgreen:

One more thing,

Cool tubes fit nicely in a 3x3. Most other hoods are too large. Cool tubes don't do a great job at spreading light but in a tent that small it's really not an issue. You will learn to train the plant away from the hotspots that the lamp throws.

I like that one, give you selectable power if you have heat problems and comes with ratchets to adjust the height.

Cool only worry is about output of lights. Are all mh/hid's the same? Time to use some Googlefu. Now I chose this tent http://www.ebay.com/itm/48-x48-x78-Reflective-Mylar-Hydroponics-Grow-Tent-Dark-Room-Hydro-Box-Indoor-/170831336660?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c65754d4. It seems nice, whooole assortment of ventilation connection sizes so thats good. Any recommendations on vent fan for this size or what cfm I should aim for ?

You can certainly get "better" bulbs but personally I wanted to get a couple grows under my belt before doing those types of tweaks, and since the bulbs are something that need replacing over time anyway, I dont think it is a loss to start out with the "cheap" MH/HPS bulbs.
