Hi guys!

This is my 2nd grow, CFLs only, basic tap water and MiracleGro.

I guess you could call it the minimalist's grow.

First plant I had was growing lovely but my lights fell and broke it in half, so I started over.

Can't remember when I started this plant, but it's been a couple of weeks at least. Should I pull off useless fan leaves or something?

There is no such thing as "Useless Fan Leaves"

Your plant is living proof of how little it takes to grow cannabis.

You should think about switching your lights to 12 on, 5 1/2 off, 1 on, 5 1/2 off then repeat. I hear it is all the rage.

Ah it's on 20/4 at the moment.
I read somewhere that if you removed some of the leaves, it allows light to hit the smaller bud sites and draws more useful energy to them :P

Hey Strax... Are you serious about this? I get that the world of growing is everchanging and there's constantly a new rage hitting the forums... But, assuming you're serious, what's the idea behind it? It sounds to me like all it'd really be doing is flowering the plant, whilst chugging an extra hour of light in there. I woulda thought that it'd just do the same as flowering? Any links on this?

Don't pull any leaves, as said before, no such thing as 'useless' fan leaves.
There are 'spent' fan leaves, but they will discolor and fall off on their own.
Try your hand at LST'ing, you will be glad you did.

Here's my last plant if you care to peep, it was a bagseed under CFL, my first attempt at CFL, and also my first attempt at indoor growing.
I also used MG nutes, but I also used MG soil and MG perlite.
It ended up being a real good tasting one, like some Cali shit I used to get, I knew it was gonna be good, I wouldn't have saved a seed from bunk smoke, right?

Okay, it seemed to stop growing, so I figured it was rootbound.

Added a 42W daylight CFL along w/ transplant.

:)

lots of internodes forming, didn't have much of anything besides space on my other plant.

Looks healthy. I have found the for floro lighting it is best to start them on 18/6 and flower at week 2 or 3 of veg, that way the plant stays smaller. Next time top it then once you see 2 new growth heads top then again then flip to flower and top the 2 new nodes, after the stretch the size is just about perfect and you will have a bunch of main tops. I would stop the MG and switch to a good flowering nute and also start giving her sweets.

Crazy timing, but today I noticed trichomes on the bud spots, and a bunch of pistols coming through :))

then during readjustments, I lost a CFL and it took off a mini fan leaf (attached to budsite) D:

But I saw someone that had no fan leaves, just big bulky buds.. like the light focused primarily on the bud sites.

Its ok dont worry about it and dont remove all the fan leafs the plant needs them. I will go and remove all the smaller lower bud sites that are not getting much light early on so you have nothing to worry about. You did not loose that bud that would have been instead the plant will send the energy up to the tops to produce bud there. So less smaller lower buds the larger the main tops are, it not lost just redirected.

I've seen a side-by-side grow with trimming leaves and not trimming, and he had excellent results on the trimmed plant. I trimmed up several leaves off my girls today, I'll keep you updated on how they look in a few days.

One day since trimming and they are looking just fine, no shock or anything. Just a bunch of little branches with very few leaves and bunch of little budsites exposed to the light.

Okay, I thought I saw clusters of white hairs through the colas... but now I'm seeing what looks like pollen sacs?

What do I do if it's a hermie? If it's a male?

will add pictures in a few hours

If it has anything round coming in, chances are its a male. Give it a few more days and if there all balls, its time to ditch it.
