3 words. plastic grow bags :)

i call em sucker pots. for those dumb enough to buy them at those high ass rates :D (JK they do work, but its not that amazing. proper media and root growth will do so much more for aeration.)

I was just speculating. The point was, I find that my smart pots don't drain down the sides (skipping soil absorption) no matter how much I pour on top. It just sits there and slowly seeps in, even if I pour a lake. The 5 gal bucket, on the other hand, will absolutely just dump down the sides if I did the same with that. That was all I was saying. Nevermind guys... sheesh. :P
Wasn't trying to dumb it down for you broa just trying to say what I meant lol. Maybe I should be more concise?!
And my smarties don't drain down the sides either..My grow bags barely do unless I flood em.

And wasn't hating bro^

That was the answer I sought... lol. Good good, no hating necessary :P

What's all this hating on smart pots yo! lol

I don't buy those expsenive ass ones, I go cheap. 25 for 25$, $1 a bag :D

and I can grow a monster 6 ft plant in a 3 gallon, you have seen my plants ;) No root bound nothing.

Sorry to hear about your problems altar, brew up a tea and get those microbes going. I'm not talking out my ass on what I tell you. Take a look at my girls, they are happy :D
How do you grow a 6 ft plant in a 3 gal with no root bound? After a month of veg in 3 gals. Mine are root bound.

what do you consider root bound? if you can feed them then it doesnt matter so to speak. im sure his root system consumes his pots like mine, the key is to keep em fed, keep em watered and keep the good microbes alive eating the dead and dying roots. in short compost tea inoculation allow for big plants in small pots. i think giggle uses a combonation method of compost tea where it both feed and inoculates.

or maybe its just an innocualnt and the nutes are organic in the soil dont remember, but that summarizes it, the power of compost tea.

Rather simple lol. They are in my thread. Right now I have one at 42" and it just started flowering. I've never experienced root bound before. I pulled 5 oz's 1 plant in a 3 gallon. All done in root pouches.

I use fabric pots. Top dress ewc and compost. Every 2 weeks and water with teas every other watering. For a while i was watering teas every 2 weeks. Now its every 8-10 days in flower and every week to every other day in veg. The teas and microbes and what not make the roots grow so much faster. My yields are smaller but i do pure indicas. I have 1 sativa that yields huge though. I use 7 gals in flower and 3 gals in veg for the first 4- 5 weeks.

My idea of root bound is when there is a mat of roots. They have to be watered every day.

I use fabric pots as well, well in a sense, they are biodegradable and after 2-3 years they break down. I start with a good base and then I add from there. I really only feed fungi throughout most of my girls cycle. They will get 1 or 2 during veg and then a booster towards the last 3-4 weeks of flowering to pack on the weight. I never top dress with ewc as they tend to allow water to just sit on top and don't drain well. They are great in a soil mix but as top dressing I don't bother my soil takes care of that for me. Every time like clock work my girl's will fade the last 2 weeks have great taste and smell without a cure really. They are clean burning white ash not harsh. I've taken a lot of time and research into the biology of plants and the return has been amazing.

Oh I've never had to water everyday either ;) Sorry to rob your thread alter but here hyroot, here's an older pic of one of my girl's in a recent soil mix when she was at 38" I believe.

Oh and in no way am I trying to put you down or say you aren't good grower or anything. I'm just sharing with what I do and it works. I figure why change it if it works. What works for me may not work for everyone else.

too much compost. aeration is the key, i bet you could continue your method if you where to add straw to your soil mix. otherwise i would avoid top dressing indoors, this is bound to cause a dominance of an organism in the soil, more than likely not one that's is super beneficial or able to properly regulate the roots.(fungal vs. bacterial dominance in media. i find fungal is better.)

Well when I cut back the top dressings, buds were smaller. Compost(no poop) and ewc are full of bacteria and fungi along with the kelp meal. I do a thin layer of top dresssing too. When I top dress I water with molasses. That causes the compost and ewc to blend in the soil rather quickly and feeds the bacteria. The fungi feed off the kelp. Water never sits on top. Keeps the top layer moist. I also top dress with canna mulch through whole grow (recently started with younger batch in flower). They love it. That batch is also rols method which does make them grow larger faster and more full / lush. Once that's done in 6 and 8 weeks. We'll see the bud difference.

Giggle I see you don't top, lst or main line so that's why they are so tall. Mine finish at 2 -3 feet from top of soil and 2x2 wide. But I lst t have multiple colas at the same height and have an even canopy. I want only big buds. If I grew them like a Christmas tree they might be that same height as yours are, but smaller buds.

I've done all styles, but I like to keep it simple and I still pull the yields I need so why change it. :D

Yes that one is fresh but I've got plenty other of them dry. I still get 7 gram nugs all the time easily. I'm not trying to prove anything or be a dick I'm just simply say what I say is possible that's all.

i think you just need to feed! try some more nutes hyroot that what it sounds like to me. you should check out my thread if you want to see some big bitches in the least amount of media(im only semi organic and also hydroponic but some of my methods could be converted to all organics)
