I over fertilized with plant food sticks that were high in nitrates.
To compensate, i bought new dirt that is all purpose, no nutes.
High in organic elements with a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite.
I rinsed the roots off and replanted in the new soil in an attempt to save the plants.
The tops continued to grow however the bottoms continued to wilt, rust, shrivel up and die off at a faster rate than the top leaves can grow.
Things have only gotten a lot worse...
I am convinced that PH has nothing to do with it. I have yet to buy a testing kit.
One girl i've been watering shows absolutely no sign of deficiencies what so ever, and is continuing to grow at a rapid rate.
I used the same grow medium, the same lights, same temp - same everything. If the water was at a toxic ph, she would also show signs!
The only difference - i did not use the plant food sticks with her!
At this point, i'm extremely frustrated. I've tried everything i can think of to correct them.
I'm about ready to throw away every plant - besides the one that's growing healthy.
If a ghost came and poured bleach inside all but 1 plant, it would easily explain my situation.
Just a few days ago, these plants were growing healthy, equal in size, side by side in precisely equal conditions.
...just 2 days later...
It appears almost as though one was properly fertilized while the other was sabotaged..
Any ideas?
