Good stuff no one else seems to grow

Many times I am searching through the many strains available to buy seeds for but find few if any grows or smoke reports online for some of them. This obviously makes me hesitate in buying them, I don't want to spend the money and then the time and space to grow out shit weed. So what strains have you grown that are pretty darn good that no one else seems to grow?

I wish I could contribute, but I've stuck with plants with some following thus far. I have tons of seeds and many of them don't seem to have anything out there beyond the descriptions at the seed banks. I'm leaning towards popping a seed of Rokerij (defunct!) Silver Shiva, and it has nothing out there in the way of smoke or grow reports. The only thing I have found is one post from someone who said everything they tried at Rokerij's coffee shop was bad, and they mentioned the Silver Shiva. Maybe it is, maybe not, but I've got 5 seeds I bought on a whim and they do no good sitting in a packet :).

So what about you? Grown any obscure strains that you would gladly grow again?

This is why I love the freebies and especially hitting Attitude's Bday promo.
Most of those freebies I would never buy to just try out, but end up buying later because the freebie turned out to be something nice.
At this point I can't contribute either because most of the stuff I have grown has had a "following" as well.
I will say Super Skunk seems to be vastly underappreciated, not sure why it isnt talked about and grown more. As far as yields, ease of growth, and straight up potency, it seems hard to beat.

Hey bro, How much grow room do you have; germ/clone, veg, flower??? I am not nosey or being an ass but I may have a suggestion you have not considered. Are you growing for personal consumption? What do you want to accomplish? If it is several different strains in a small area you want then maybe tweak your grow style and your bean choices? Can you get together with a grow buddy who maybe can veg for you while you flower to get maybe an extra grow out per year. Are you familiar with vertical grows or stack shelving?

Only trying to help you see your way to getting to where you can fit something new into what you already have going...Might want to look at the growing boards here on RIU or International Cannagraphic for that.

OK, all that said, the answer to your question about obscure strains for me is landrace indicas and sativas. I will probably not do another landrace sativa indoors even though I like the psycho-trippy buz...Too much time, space and trouble for too little yield...Dr. Grindspoon another stretchy sativa...Juanita la Lagrimosa for a real funky head buz; it is high CBD...Wish I could find Cream Sodica and Blue 13 put out by Texas Resin to do again...Will do Y Griega, Medical S33ds and Psycho Killer, Breeder's Boutique again...UBC chemo by Woodhorse at meduser.ca and Trainwreck x William's Wonder by Motarebel...FWIW

Oh, and most definitely Herijuana by Woodhorse just took clones for that last week it is a do-over

I typically run 3-4 in flower at any given time, usually different strains or a clone if I want to get a little more out of one strain. My veg space is big enough to squeeze in 3 at the most but typically has 2 and maybe some clones or seedlings. I run a 150W CMH bulb in my veg and a combination of LED and PLLs in my flower space. It works out good, but the bottleneck is always in my flower space.

I won't be running another landrace sativa inside (or out) again. Shame, I have the seeds, got some Malawi Gold, but my set-up just doesn't work well for it. Now I might consider a landrace indica, but not sure I would like the effect. Who knows.

I recommend everyone try kushberry and white berry at least on e I think they are very slept on
Kushberry is my all time fav and I can't see why more people aren't crazy about it
Also I think ghs gets a bad rep I have had a few plants from them turn out stellar
Emeral triangle has some nice strains I have ran all of the. And I don't hear much about them
Everyone hates on Barney's farm but their pineapple chunk is some of the best I've grown
I think there are to a of u under rated stuff people don't grow bc they are cheap or maybe get a bad rep idk

Heh..heh..heh, Yeah (g) and harvest maybe 2 zips about the time he qualifies for medicare...FWIW
Quality. . .not quantity.

Another way to do the Malawi indoors is to grow it in veg, take clones, and once rooted, put the clones right into 12-12.

A clone right into flowering is smaller still than 12-12 from seed, and it will start flowering immediately.

With so many good and popular strains, I see little reason to take chances with more unusual stuff, *especially* if you have limited growing space.

I'm leaning towards popping a seed of Rokerij (defunct!) Silver Shiva, and it has nothing out there in the way of smoke or grow reports. Its fairly common for ceed companies to come and go. Some don't make money, some breeders get busted, and some just move onto other things.

As for your ceeds, they're not getting any "younger". I say try growing one.

So what about you? Grown any obscure strains that you would gladly grow again?

Hey, Looks to me like you are livin' large...WOS has a fem Pakistan Valley indica I like to grow...Super nice, easy grow & good stone if you like "old school, racey head, pass the Chex-Mix kinda stone"...BTW, what LED system are you running?...I ditched an MH & HPS in favor of LEDs...Have a 3x3 veg under a Hydro Gro 189X & 5x5 flower tent with 150 watt Kessils...T-5 area for germ & clone...FWIW

I wish for you what ever it is you wish for yourself...That being said the space you described you have will make the "Malawi" a real exercise in patience...Flower time, if you can throw enough light on it, is 14 weeks minimum. I grew Afropips Maalwi. It took up 3x3 in a 5x5 tent with a GrowLite OG 1000 watt and produced little better than 3oz with a six month total grow time investment...Killer, killer smoke but I won't do again...But that is just me...Glad I was in the Marine Corp; won't do that again either!!!

I have some time doing this...Willing to share what it is I know (FWIW)...Post back here or PM me...FWIW

My 2nd harvest ever came from Female S. Neville's Haze. 90 days of 12/12...almost 13 weeks...so I've been there, and that plant was worth it imho. I will grow it again someday but too busy trying other strains first.

^^ Thanks for the link. Seems Rokerij's owner was busted last year so they are now defunct.
You're welcome.

I don't know the details of what happened to Rokerij, but off the top of my head, I can think of at least two other breeders/seedmakers who were busted then came back to do business again.

So its possible, at least that these genetics may come back for commercial sale.

On landraces, there are any number of problems with these, but the most important thing is just to control height for small indoor grows.

It definitely "can" be done, though its up to you to decide if the extra work, extra wait, and relatively low yield are worth it. I think for most indoor/stealth personal growers the answer is probably "no", and there are big reasons why commercial growers invariably use hybrid strains or even pure indicas for indoor growing. Unless you have a good 4 feet (minimum) vertical height to work with, you're probably better off just finding a good sativa-dom hybrid instead.

If you want to give it a try (and I have done this. . .you can see my Mexican sativa grow below for one example), there are different ways to do it (SCROG/trellis, tying, bending, etc), but training to make the plant run at least partially sideways is a HUGE help. It doesn't show in the journal, but I did use a SCROG taking off about a full foot of vertical height, then tied down the taller tops to control height a bit more.

As another tip, there is no "law" that says you "have" to run 12-12. Running your lights 11 hours on and 13 off will make these plants finish faster, reducing some of the issues of height and long flowering times. This is a specific tip from DJ Short, who runs his sativa dominant plants this way and advises doing so. Swerve (of Cali connection) also claims he does this, for what that's worth. I've done this and it does help. In fact, I've run down to from 12-12 to 11-13 to 10-14 in finishing some of these.
