Waiting for buds to swell...

I read in my bible that some people have used sugar or molasses to increase bud weight and size im being patient as possible waiting for the right time i dont want to waste all this time for some shitty nuggs. any ideas on how to add this or advice on how to increase these im not using fertsand dont want to as grow shop is so close to state police post lol. except for a low nute organic molasses. which to be honest i dont know its doing anything now or in veg.

I don't understand exactly what you're asking.

Molasses - as far as I understand it - makes available sugars within the soil that the plant can use and exploit to fatten its buds. The bit it took me a while to find out - and I'm not sure if it's true or not - is that it is only effective when using organics. The healthier the state of the soil, the better the plant can use the sugars made available.

I grow organically, and do use mollases. I can't get the black strap stuff (which I believe is best) and instead use simple jars of mollases from the health food shop. I add a teaspoon to some very hot water, mix it thoroughly and then add it to 10 litres of water. Not done any comparative tests for yield/taste or anything, but I feel it's benefiting the plant.

Thats kind of what it does.

The molasses itself has very little nutrients in it that the plants roots can actually uptake.

It is best used with organics BIGBY you are correct. However what it actually feeds is the HEALTHY LIVING soil organisms contained within the rhizosphere. Those bacteria/fungi that convert the organics being fed to the soil into usable ions etc that the plant can uptake. Those bacteria/fungi generally convert root exudates as well into more usable elements for the plant in a symbiotic relationship. These carbs in the form of molasses gives them a small extra source of food to convert more elements for the roots.



Molasses in itself is not enough to sustain plant growth.

Too much molasses can actually block N from being uptaken.

Brewed in a tea however with other elements would work best and this is how most organic growers tend to use it.

If the molasses helps feed the Microbials in the Soil. Would it then be beneficial to add small amounts of molasses during the veg stages when your rhizosphere is developing?

Do you know how the plant uses the molasses when applied in a Foliar spray? I've read that it can be beneficial.

Personally I wouldnt foliar feed molasses.

I've smoke some "sugared" weed and all that kept happening was my ash kept getting hard and almost crystallised and the joint kept going out.

As for using it in veg, yes it is beneficial to feed small doses during veg. AS LONG as you have a healthy living soil and aren't using things like synthetic nutes and H2o2 these 2 things damage bacteria/fungi populations.

The only benefit of foliar feeding molasses would be the extra iron calcium and magnesium would be good for the plant BUT I can think of better ways to add that.

I use molasses during veg and bloom. If you don't have the microbes in your soil then there is no point really. I use fox farm soil, ocean forest and light warrior(has the microbes), 50% each and then when I do my final transplant also use white shark, could be great shark but not sure at the moment. Having those microbes really improves your soil grow in which case the molasses would be great

I never spray anything after about the 3rd week of bloom. I wantthe natural taste coming out in the nugs. Also, I always try to keep a healthy rhizosphere.bacteria and micorrhizae have been the best additives I've found. Thanks for your insights.

If you like Mycorhizae then also check out Trichoderma. Its another type of fungi.



Do some research and see if you like it.
