White walls or Mylar?

I am a newbie so I apologize for what must be a redundant question.

White walls or Mylar covered walls, which is better?

white is far easier and cheaper....

Flat, bright white should serve you well.

Whatever is easiest and cheapest for you. Mylar has a slightly higher reflective value, something like 3-5% better, but insignificant in the long run.

I'm changing out my rooms walls from the high end mylar stuff, it has like diamond shapes on it for reflectiveness, and replacing it with white panda plastic. the amount of overspray from foliar feeding seems to really cloud the mylar and kills the reflectiveness. I hope to be able to wash off the brown spray with a rag from the white, it just doesn't come off the other stuff.

I was thinking that a bathroom paint, white semi gloss would
be better at protecting the Sheetrock and be more reflective then flat white.

Intuitively it would seem the semi-gloss or high gloss would be more reflective than flat white. All the comparative research I have seen points to flat white as a superior reflective treatment. Go with the purest white you can find.

Or you could get brave and adventurous and use a cool roof coating that is typically used on mobile home roofs. Mildew and water resistant as well as being 85%+ reflective.

The problem with a gloss in the paint is it spreads light unevenly, where as the flat does not.

Sadly, no. I had a gallon of the stuff and was going to use it but my next door neighbor saw the can that had been sitting under the car port for months and asked if he could have it. He has an older mobile home and I have a regular shingle roof, so it was hard to say "no".
