You do NOT want a heat lamp. You can grow with normal CFL spirals or tubes (t5, t8). You need to make sure you get the right spectrum. I run 14 23w cfl. In veg I go 75% 6500k (bright daylight) and 25% 2700k (soft white). Vice versa for flower. The more lights the better and remember that you need to keep them as close the plants as possible.

spend a day on this site researching and then ask the questions that remain.

Yes you want cool white for the veg state, buts its always best to have a full spectrum like grown dad said.

This is a very vague question again, tell us what kind of bulb it is,spiral fluorescent(CFL),LED,or something else?
Do what growindad suggested

If you are talking about the shit they market as grow lights - incandecents- they are not worth a damn unless you are trying to keep a normal house plant alive.

I use two 18" T5s(6500K), one 36" T5(6500K), and 8-10 32W CFLs(6500K in veg, mixture of 6500K/5000K/2700K in flower). Switching it up for my second time around, the T5s are all supplementary and I'll have 8 overhead 32W CFLs with a bunch of 23W CFLs around and inbetween the girls(position is size/training dependant), this will be in a 1m^3 box with b&w poly walls.
