The Bible has quite a few followers around the world.are you saying that there is more evidence to support the zombie kid than the guy that raped kids? less evidence? that you are too stupid to discern whether there is more evidence for one than the other?

In 1492, Christopher Columbus didn't arrive in America, shake off his boots and jump for joy at the sight of Indians as the little song suggests. In 1492, Columbus reached what is now known as the Bahamas, eventually arriving in Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic).
There, Columbus met people known as the Arawaks, Tainos and Lucayans--all friendly according to the explorer's writings.
When the Arawaks assisted Columbus in repairing the shipwrecked Santa Maria, he realized these hospitable people would do pretty much anything he wanted, including surrendering their land. An empire soon followed.
Seizing the land for Spain, Columbus took the Arawaks as slaves, putting most of them to work in newly "discovered" gold mines. Within a year or two, more than 120,000 Arawaks died in the mines or were murdered by the man America honors every October.
Oh, don't forget that Columbus, and the Catholic Church, led millions to believe the mission was to covert native people to Christianity.
A story which will likely never make into into Little Jimmy's history books involves the year 1500. These events were so poignant, Columbus chronicled them so nobody would forget, writing: "A hundred castellanoes are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten are now in demand."
You guessed it. Columbus also dabbled in the flesh trade, selling girls as young as 9 as sex slaves. Women who were not sold as sexual servants worked in extreme conditions until hundreds dropped dead of exhaustion. Others committed suicide.

thatguy, it's more about awareness in my opinion. So people can know the truth, I was taught lies in school. My mother being Native had to straighten a few of these things out. My wife and her brother had no idea about Columbus and his atrocities. She was shocked to learn the truth about his actions. George Washington was also fed by Native Americans in Valley Forge when his men and he were starving. It's part of the reason why he signed the Treaty of Canadaigua. No one is taught about Washington getting his ass kicked and nearly starving if not for the Oneida Indians and Polly Cooper coming down with women for comfort and food to feed their ally.
God damn it why isnt there a dislike button? For the most part I do.
It's recorded history is it not?
Older history than Columbus.
Ever heard of scientology? People are sheep, i could be the massiah if i wanted to...The Bible has quite a few followers around the world.
How about you create a successful religion?
George Washington killed people in war and held slaves, Jefferson held slaves and had children with at least one of them. What the hell do you want from these figures of history. You cant expect a cat to bark like a dog.

They arent equipped for that. We are talking about a point in history where this is the norm and "our" collective shaming today has no bearing. Its what happened. Its how it is. All of the things you listed above that Columbus did still happens today (Slaves, religious conversion and murder/rape so on). It was just the way of the road back then. Why just focus on Columbus most people probably think he landed on Plymouth rock and that's the extent of their "knowledge", they dont know the cross ocean events that happened between Europe's major powers from the 15th century to today. OPs story is just the same story with a different lead roll no need for OP to get his panties in a bunch because hes offended by someone who has stood the test of time staying relevant in our history books even though he wasnt the first one to the New World. Im glad you trying to inform the people but most of them dont have the background knowledge to put this little article into the context of history.
I understand that morality is subjective and my issue is not really with what he did, my issue is with the fact that he is portrayed as an American hero when he clearly is not a person to be admired, i know that atrocities like the ones he committed happen every day but as you said i am trying to get people to think, and if showing them that some one they were taught was a hero is not one helps enlighten people than I'm glad to be of service...
You fucking neocons are screwing it up for us real conservatives.I saw movies about Columbus and other explorers being such evil mother fuckers.
Can't say it's true because I wasnt there to witness it.
