Dealing with dispensary, advice needed!

Hello RIU!

Well, I have some delicate questions that I have searched for with not much luck. I’ve been going to the same dispensary for over a year now and I’ve been growing for the past 6 months. A couple of days ago I gave my dispensary a small sample just for them to try it out.

Today when I stopped by for some pre-rolls every body was complementing me on my Kosher Kush and asked if I had more, they were interested in acquiring more. I never really put much thought into what I wanted to get out of growing besides the obvious ...weed! But now flowering my second crop and germinating my third there is no possible way for me and my girlfriend to finish all of this medicine and it looks like I’m just addicted to growing so I will have to do something about it. Any advice dealing with dispensaries? I know this is something that people don’t like talking about all I’ve read are bad stories and people don’t seem to like sharing any good info. Even a PM would be greatly appreciated I feel REAL skeptical about this whole dispensary crap.

Thank you

If they are asking for it, that's a really good sign. They wouldn't say that unless they were serious. If you have more than you can use, why not vend it to them?

Just bring in all the medicine you want to give them (usually they like full a full pound), and tell them how much you want for it (usually 2800 per pound for quality indoor).

I'd also advise you to keep growing it if it's that popular.

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to think it out a bit more, I've been reading around that normally dispensaries will never pay up front which is something that already makes me feel skeptical. I'll check out what they say and if I have to just leave stuff there with no money back I'll try to leave as little as possible.

I guess I'm too much of a honest business type, If I would ever get into this I want to set up a 501(c) or whatever a non profit business license is and pay taxes. I don't think that everybody will agree with me with that one.... I'm thug like that, haha

DON'T. TAKE. CONSIGNMENT.

It's bad for the rest of us and the industry as a whole. Remember: YOU are in control, not the dispensary. If you don't like them or their offer, leave. There is another down the street.

Let me emphasize something. DO NOT TAKE CONSIGNMENT. Let's see how many other people say this.

I still have a spot in garden grove that owes me money.

From what I understand there isn't any need to do this. Your product can only be taxed once and the dispensary will take care of that. Also you will/are a part of the dispensary's collective and don't need to have a non profit business license.

Some dispensaries pay up front, most don't. Never accept any consignment period over 2 weeks. If they can't pay you in two weeks that means they aren't in good enough shape financially for you to trust them. There are some good reasons for consignment such as lab testing. Then their are some bad reasons for consignment such as financial irresponsibility. If it takes more than 2 weeks, it's financial irresponsibility regardless of the reason they claim. That's where I'd draw the line. If a club wants consignment, I need to know the reason, and really I can't think of any other good reason besides lab testing.

You can just file taxes on turbo-tax online as an independent contractor. But remember, deduct you growing expenses (including trimming if you have trimmers), that's all tax deductible.

I agree with this. They came to you, you make the rules.

i wouldn't do anything more than a net 7 where they pay u out regardless. some places come at u with the "its selling kinda slow so here is half". thatt when i ask for the half thats left and part ways. they usually are caught off guard by u asking for whats rightfully yours. some give it back...some pay u out miraculously on the spot. is a bull shit game and ive only sell oz to my boys now. all patients of course .

That's exactly what you should do. If a dispensary ever refuses to pay you on the date they agreed, pull your products off the shelf and demand the money for the products they've sold right then and there. If they say they can't pay, they are almost always lying.

Dispensaries shouldn't have to wait until they sell your products to pay you. It should be cash up front. The only reason to accept a later payment is if they are going to hold the product for testing.

... and never vend to that dispensary again if you have to pull your product. Also look at this thread started by Dan:
https://www.rollitup.org/california-patients/547601-list-clubs-rip-off-vendors.html

Read that and hopefully save yourself some headaches and add information to help as necessary.

Congratulations on your grow! I've got a Kosher Kush girl 3 weeks into flower right now. She's huge! She really stretched out on me about 4 times her size! I had never gotten that much stretch before.

Can other people post their disputes on that? If so I'll get it some hype.
At this point anyone can post on the dispensarydisputes board.

if you google dispensary disputes it comes up on page one...so if they keep being dirtbags (dispensaries) the list will grow...already is...I see March got some additions.

Hello everybody!

Thank you for your info. I still have not gone back to the dispensary It's not that I'm playing hard to get its just there wasn't any idea of selling my first crop so I'm not really in any type of rush to sell it and much less after all these warnings. I'm guessing I'll stop by some day and take a couple of ounces and if they want to pay up front for it good and if not I'll happily walk away and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I have a lot of stress on my day to day life and growing has evolved into something more medicinal than the medicine itself. I don't want to turn this into something stressful by having to grow with the idea of $, I think its even better for my stress to know that I do have that option now of selling.

It's amazing how us the "suppliers" have to go through this to be able to sell our medicine through dispensaries. Has it been like this with dispensaries since "it started" or has it been getting worse with time? If I have any mishap be sure that I will post it on dispensary disputes, Rollitup and wherever I can.

Once again, Thank you for your advice!
