curing bud in glass pickle jars?

just wondering if you were to completely clean out a glass pickle jar
wouldn't it work in the same way that people use mason jars to cure?
it's air tight and glass, pretty much same properties as the masons so why
don't people use pickle jars and save a ton of money instead?

i'm going to save pickle jars from now up until october and see how they work.

People wouldn't save a ton of money by using pickle jars. I'm sure they'd work just as fine but hopefully the outcome isn't weed that smells like pickles, unless that's what you're into. Keep it granny style

thats why I said if they were completely cleaned out and free from the pickle smell ..

You could use anything you like really.. just get that pickle smell out of there I would think.

Heck, I NEVER jar my stuff up anymore until it is 100 percent ready to store. I myself like to get the grass to the point of where jarring it would be considered, and put it loosely in baggies (works for me because I only do a few ounce harvest at a time) and roll up the baggies loosely and let them sit in there for a few days in a dark dry room.. no burping or babysitting needed and no 'wet to dry, wet to dry' just a consistent release of the last bit of moisture.

Some might gasp at the idea of plastic bag cures.. but once it ends up in the jar perfect for storage, non one is any the wiser. Really really nice stuff.

Anyway.. sure, use a pickle jar.. I have.. worked fine. Enjoy.

Yes, i guess it would be alright for a plant, if you are growing quite a few plants, my friend, you better love pickles to death!

A lot of stores carry mason jars and they're not expensive. It would be cheaper to get the mason jars unless you're just a pickle eater. Are we talking vlassic pickles?

I'm sure a little TLC will do the job, what if I cleared the pickle smell and stored blueberrys inside there
acouple weeks prior to harvest o_O

Beat me to it...it's the lid that retains the smell...try to use glass applesauce jars,the big ones...or a jar with something sweet inside:)GL.peace

That correct it's that commercial sealant. It's made for single use. Unfortunately my answer is in his identical thread in Harvest, le sigh.......

I use pickle jars all the time. Ever try finding a 1Gal mason jar? Get some rubbing alcohol and after a few cleanings the odor will be gone.

after you buy the pickle jars and eat them or collect them somehow. After you buy the iso to clean them a bunch of times and all that goes into it. You would be ahead of the game if you just went and got a case of mason jars.

RUBBISH...the guys paying for pickles he enjoys eating and as an added bonus he's using a recycled jar...I'm not a fan of "planned obsolescence"

Kind of on topic..

It's only grass and it's only jars.. I am a HUGE fan of multi use items..

If you have some items around the house that you can get more use out of, vs going and buying more new shit at the store, ... well if it works, I'd much rather use what I already have. That's just me, but it feels 'good' to milk things for all the value that you can get out of them... not because I am particularly cheap, but more because I just hate to 'shop' if anything.

LOL... Maybe some people don't like pickles.... If that's your thing then good for you. I can buy a dozen mason jars for $10. How many pickle jars can you get for $10? And I don't like pickles :P
