First grow coming soon! Help choosing seeds!

I have a few seeds in mind that I would love to try out. Being a complete noob, I want to try feminized seeds as I am kinda pressed for time right now and to make things a little easier for myself this first time around. Qualities I am looking for in the strain:

  • Handles topping/FIMing well
  • Does well under SCROG
  • High potency
  • Wouldn't be mad if it was a big yielder as well, but more concerned with quality of the high as well as flavor
Now, I am going to be using organic soil and preparing my own mix. Keeping it simple for my first grow.

Most of the time I prefer Indicas, but I love me some Sativas as well. And by pressed for time, I mean to get started growing. Length to finish flowering is not an issue. I just want to get started before April is over and I have to cook my soil and wait for the seeds to arrive if they don't get confiscated.

I am going to be using a home made cabinet roughtly 28"x60"x60" with a 400w MH/HPS bulbs and of course fans and carbon scrubber.

Here are a few seeds I was looking at:

Serious Seeds:

  • AK-47
  • White Russian
Barney's Farm:

  • Critical Kush
  • LSD
  • Pineapple Chunk
  • Violator Kush
Dinafem Seeds:

  • Critical +
  • White Widow
DNA Genetics:
  • Holy Grail Kush
Just to name a few. Let me know what you guys think, offer suggestions about seeds you have tried, and reviews about the seeds and growers I mentioned. Thank you in advance!

Hi Casper, You might want to think about a pure strain indica (check World of Ceeds) they have fems are relatively inexpensive & not so pH and nute sensitive...I would also suggest you start with bag soil, e.g. Fox Farm Light Warrior & Ocean Forest and simple nutes e.g. Dyna Gro...You did not mention having a pH or nutrient meter. Using your own soil mix adds another set of variables (frustration & worry) to a first grow...I mix my own soil and it takes some time to understand how to use it...I also found that Ocean Forest worked better (was too nutrient rich) for me when I mixed it 2/1 with Light Warrior...I wish you success...FWIW

out of them choices ak-47 all the way. but since its your first grow I'd probably get something cheaper.

I would go with ak47 myself aswell or the holy grail kush but both are about the same in price so if you are up for the challenge go for it.
Other than that you can try the critical+ hear its a nice producer and quality is good.

Mostly any seedbank you order from will give some freebies with the order so you might be able to try out another fem or 2 from a different company.

seriously, if its your first grow i would go with something cheap, check out sannies shop. for the price the quality is fucking unbeatable.
... and remember seeds contain all the nutrients they need to grow up through at least the first true leaves, so you prob dont want to start em in your soil mix. i use peat pellets and distilled water, and perhaps 1 seed out of 20 will fail for me. less, i think. i've probably popped 30-40 beans from sannie & co and have had exactly one, a sdxbb freebie, not start. bodhi and mandala both have similar germ rates for me as well.

Forget Barneys Farm. Guys above me gave you good advice but if you still want to grow strains from your list go with AK-47 but be aware it has strong smell during flowering, also Critical + would be right choice easy to grow good yielder and good high. Good luck

Another alternative is not to go cheap your first grow. I went cheap seed my first grow and I still regret that. I bought Nirvana's Aurora Indica. I found a good pheno and it was decent but it was mids at best. The way I'm looking at it now is that the electricity, seeds will be the cheapest on your first grow (inflation you know), but you have all the added expenses of your equipment. So your first grow is going to cost a lot.

The one place you can save money on it your genetics. If you buy the best seeds you can get you won't have to replace those genetics. You can keep cloning them until you find something better. I would go take a look at Attitude Seedbank.

BF has Blue Cheese which has gotten great reviews. I am gonna do it up soon.

I did a Dinafem Cheese and it is a good sativa type high with good yield.

I just did Lemon Skunk from GHS, everybody seems to hate GHS, but I was absolutely amazed at it. The reason I recommend it is because it's an amazing strain for your first grow, it is incredibly forgiving and amazingly resilient. Sometimes I completely forgot about the ppm and pH, and it never cared. The pH could stray up to 7.0, and my ppm got up to 2000 by accident at the end of the grow, it took everything like a champ. Easy grow, amazingly potent, not the most creative strain, but bag appeal was easily a 10/10. http://www.weed-seeds.net/lemon_skunk_feminized_seeds.html

Seems like most votes are for the AK-47. The Holy Grail Kush looks freakin delicious. What do you guys think about Serious Seeds' "White Russian"? It is a cross between an AK-47 and a White Widow. It handles scrogging very well, good yields, good high (supposedly) and can handle heat and mold extremely well. And the smellier the better. Gonna build my cab and use it at my family's house, with their consent, to see just how stealth I can make it. If I am happy with the results, then I will feel comfortable taking it with me when I move out later this year and continue to grow in my apartment. If not, I can scrap the entire project and go back to dispensaries : (

do not buy beans from barneys farm, greenhouse,cali connect, or dutch passion....also this is your first grow id choose bagseed!! but if you must buy, buy solely so you know what you have and based on price only..cheapest pack i know of is white label white skunk and its a great beginner strain dont let the price fool you its still very good..you mentioned dinafem which isnt the best but their super silver is very good but find something cheap that you like and look up reviews on here for the one you like the most delicious seeds cotton candy is good also..dont be afraid of non feminized beans its super easy to tell a female from a male and you have like a week in and a half to determine what it is before any pollen flies its not a crisis dont believe the hype its easy after the first time and people will help you!

I love the free seed promo's, I have ordered from seedsman.com and the seed depot and no problems with either one. there is a Calyx Bros seed promo at seed depot.. I would jump on that shit.

Good list you've got there- have grown many of them....
White Russian, Critical Kush, Pineapple Chunk, White Widow, Critical +, and LSD ALL fit the bill-- all do quite well in LST/SCROG....good yields, high quality, nothing real touchy to grow.....

That Holy Grail Kush is on my List of "Gotta try it's".... if you do- keep us posted- eh?
