Strain for Migraines and Pain? Were to get seeds?

Both my daughter and my mother suffer from migraines. My mothers are almost daily and she has attempted suicide, overdoses due to the pain. She has gotten surgery that was supposed to help, but only made things worse. Cannabis is the only thing that has helped to get things under control, but it's getting expensive. Weather sensitivity is a one issue that brings on the migraines for them both, but not really sure what can be done about this. I decided to start growing my own and after lots of research I think I'm ready.

The hard part is finding seeds for certain strains I found at leafy that fit the bill. I'm very open to other suggestions and opinions. Here are the seeds I have done research on; in order of preference:

Exodus Cheese
Bio-Jesus
Big Wreck
Hippie Crippler
Seattle Blue

There is also Q3, but it's a sativa and I have read the Indicas are much better for pain. I have searched the few seedbanks I have found, but have come up empty.

Sea of seeds. Very good reputation. Last time I used them they were real good on shipping. And on a good time manner.

Also Lavender comes from soma seeds and attitude seedbank is very reliable on getting seeds.

Thank you all for the advice. Really appreciate it. Going to grow a few different strains, Lavender will be among them now that I know about it. Sea of Seeds did in fact have exodus cheese. Thought I would never find it. Looks like I will order from a few places. I was worried about the plants crossing, but from what I have read I should be fine. When I was a kid we would just throw a handful of seeds in a secluded area and come back for the harvest, those days are long gone but I'm almost ready to start growing for real. Trying to read everything I can and I have learned so much already. About the only thing I still need to figure out is the lights, but I'm off to read more about that now.

Thanks again everyone!

IMO weed doesn't help with headaches at all. It apparently just takes your mind off of it which in my experience, it doesn't. Not that it doesn't help your mother.

Magic mushrooms are apparently very effective with migrane and cluster headaches, more effectve than the imigran injection.

i get very frequent headaches and occasionally the pounding migrane and ive found concentrates to work primarily better. Although im guessing its because its higher in THC, but like the above post stated i kinda believe to i don't really think weed honestly helps my headaches migranes, in a way gets my mind off it and able to relax. Honestly i will take a pill if i get a head ache not smoke a bowl/joint. Usually Headaches means constricted blood veins..... weed just constricts more blood veins.....

Check for strains high in CBD.

marijuana will most defintly help with the migranes, as hot rod said look for strains that have a higher cbd ratio which is usually indica dominant and pure indica strains, thier thc will be a little lower than one without a high cbd count, but its alot of those cbd´s that help with things such as back pain, infammation, migranes, etc.

Hey man, I always love to help out someone who wants to use this wonderful herb as medicine. First things first are you in a medical state? If so you should look into getting some clones as that'll make things a little easier. But if you're looking to go the seed route might I recommend attitude seed bank? I used to volunteer at a medical clinic and I had many people who had the same problems that your mom is going through.

You're going to want to look for a very strong indica for this type of condition. For migraines and back pain that is always what I recommend, you don't want something so strong that you can't function, but you definitely need something strong enough to manage the pain. Might I suggest DNA Genetics LA Confidential or Grand Daddy Purple? Both of those strains would be perfect for your mother's condition, they have a nice narcotic effect that is great for pain, but they also elevate your mood and don't make you too tired if you only take a hit or two. I'd also recommend Dutch Passion's Blueberry, Mazar, or Skywalker as those are also great for pain relief. If you could go a bit more into detail I can probably help you a little more, but I believe that those strains would be great in helping your mother out. All of the strains I listed, especially LA Con, GDP, and Blueberry, are great pain relievers and mood elevators and I would highly recommend any one of those for your mother's condition.

There are a ton of resources here and as long as you're willing to do the research and ask questions when you need to you'll come out with a good harvest. I think it's criminal that people charge medical patients 40-50 an eighth for medicine when it doesn't cost near that much to grow it at all. Most clinics care about profit and couldn't give two shits about your conditions, however RIU is a wonderful community and you'll get some great advice here. Not only that, I'm sure some of the members here would be more than glad to help you for nothing at all as opposed to shady clinics :/ If you have any more questions please feel free to ask and I'd be more than happy to help in any way I can. Best of luck friend.

I'm in Colorado and with the recent changes I can grow indoors. This made the choice to start growing easier, but I would have started either way. I have read that an indica is better for pain. I have also read that eating it is better than smoking it and I can see how this would more accurate. We have tried many things, various herbs, acupuncture, light therapy... the list goes on. My mother is addicted to her pills... She has been cutting down the doses for awhile now and she is almost off of them completely save for the really bad migraines, but of course that does not help with the migraines either. My daughters migraines are not as bad, they are monthly, but as she gets older chances are they will be more frequent.

So far I have just been researching strains that are specifically listed on various sites as helpful for migraines and pain, this may or may not be accurate of course. The advice I have gotten here and those sites are really the only resources I have. The local clinics say they cannot offer advice unless I have an Rx.

Just cleaned up what will soon become my grow room. So I will add the suggested strains to the list! Thanks for that!

Was thinking about doing hydro, but now I am leaning more towards soil to start. Still going to by a hydro kit for later on. Tax money is coming in handy, if not for that I would be screwed. I'm an artist/art teacher by trade, so it's always feast or famine around here, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I actually teach art to adults with developmental disabilities. Does not pay much but I love my job. :)

Off to research CBD! Thanks everyone!

good luck man i hope everything works out for you. myself im starting with soil to learn alot of the basics then i may move into hydro which is total control over every aspect. alot more to screw up with hydro from what i hear. also things start adding up when setting up a grow. your like all i need is a light and some ventillation but then theres like 10000 other things you dont think about that you will have to purchase. put up a journal or a grow log whenever you get things going for help and assistance. would love to watch in on your grow.
