First ever grow - Fridge grow

You can use whatever u want man just make sure what ever u pick u know the pros and cons are. Im on my first grow and im went with 100% perlite and hempy bucket. What a hempy bucket is is that u measure 2 inches from the bottom and drill a hole in the container. So whenever ur watering the bottom will get filled with water and anything over 2 inches the water will flow out. Its kinda like a soil/hydro grow bc wwheneverthe roots stretch out to the bottom they start growing reaaaaallllllly fast!

Thanks for this comment man you really made me look into hempy buckets and wow.... For the past few days I have just been researching about them I have come to wonder why everyone doesn't use these things.

Nutes, ph pen, 4 inch exhaust blower, perlite and a few other bite and pieces have been recently bought and are on their way. Once the fan gets here I will begin to prep the fridge. This project should hopefully be underway within a couple of weeks.

I was also wondering if anyone knew how many plants I could fit in my fridge with a 250hps? I was thinking I 2 plants would be optimal for my space.

Contemplating doing a scrog....my current plan is

Medium: 100% perlite
Containers: approximately 1-2 gallon hempys
Nutes: canna vega, canna Flores, calmag (scared of deficiency)

Now I was thinking I can do a scrog with 2 plants or just plant 2-3 plants normally....still yet to make a decision

looking good i would do one plant scrog and just trian the plant til u want to flip! seeds cost money and you dont want to waste them or over crowded it will effect ur yeild!

seeds do cost money however im not too concerned with that. im seeing this project as a learning experience onto bigger and better things and to learn how this plant grows. Wouldnt 2 be better/quicker? At this stage i'm thinking of either scrogging or using LST for sure but I think I will do 2 plants...I would like a decent yield to keep me happy for a while . Anyway...thanks for your input and heres a bit of a picture update with my pots inside the fridge (72 cents each haha) and a picture of my exhuast fan (I wish it was 72 cents)

Also... Would it be wise to cut two holes in the bottom of the fridge so that the pots fit snugly into them and then just put a tray underneath the fridge to collect the run off. Could anyone see any problems with setting it up like that?

it works!! just need to cut one more hole in the bottom somewhere for the passive intake and im good to go. On track to start this week some time

I have recently finished my fridge and its ready to go. Got a speed controller and carbon filter ready and everything. I have two white widow seeds in peat pellets and they have begun to show their tap roots and should hopefully sprout soon. I also put some bag seed I had in peat pellets for a bit of experimenting possibly. Hopefully will have my widows X big bud under my mh soon. Pics to come

Bit of an update..they have recently sprouted and have been put under my MH light about 20 inches away...I was going to get CFL's but i thought i would keep things as simple as possible and after some research the MH looks to be sufficient. Couple of pics of my current setup and one of the two WW X BB's. Apologies for the light messing up the pics



ps i still have a humidity dome on the seedlings, just not in the pic

Just a bit of an update, been lowering my MH slowly the past few days. So far so good..

Also, why waste your time on bagseed? Might as well spend some money and get some feminized seeds of a known strain.

I will assume, for the time being.. that you have not seen any of the bagseed grows on RIU, with full pictures, and smoke reports. More than a few have been quite nice compared to some of the genetics seeds that are feminized.

Actually, I have seen the bagseed grows, and occasionally they do come out good. It's just not worth my time for a lottery seed and that was my point. Unless you're collecting pollen, sprouting male plants is also a waste of time.

Hey guys checking in again... I need help


i've had a few problems with the heat seeing as we have had a heat wave of constant 35+ degree days here in australia. The good news however is that it seems to be over with the temperatures around 25-26 degrees. However there is bad news.... On monday (approx 5 days ago) I was out for the whole day and didnt get a chance to water my peat pellets... the temps were sky high since it was a 38 degree day and needless to say they got extremely dehydrated.


This is a picture of them after i had a chance to check on them...

As you can see some of the leaves suffered some burning and the cotyledons have basically died...I am worried because there are still no roots visible at the bottom of the peat pellet. I am not sure what i should do? the new growth looks healthy so i am happy about that. Today I started a very weak feeding because I was worried about leaves beginning to yellow a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I am thinking about placing these in solo hempy cups and just continue to water and feed (weak)

Water, and water only to try to give the roots something to work with... -NO NUTES-.. control your temp too, that's a major issue at this point in the game - figuratively. A very gentle watering (see: no flooding them) may help - it may be too late, but I've also seen plants in much worse condition get recovered with time and patience on these forums.

Hey thanks for the advice, i'm worried about there being a lack of nutes in the peat pellets? the plants are almost 3 weeks old so thats why I was worried. I have continued with the waterings and the new growth looks healthy so thats a good sign i guess..but still not a root in sight. I plan on using a heat mat to assist with the roots

Looking a bit healthier...temps are steadier but humidity is really low...sometimes its at 11%. Should I be worried about this? Also no roots visible yet. I placed the worst looking one inside a hempy cup to see what happens. I'm thinking of doing the same to the other two aswell.

11% is -way- too low for any stage of growth... would definitely foliar spray them with pH'd water and try to get the humidity up.

As long as its adjustable on more than a low/med/high/off, yes...should have decent adjustments for it to be considered.

Thanks for your input. May I ask what the negative effects of low humidity are? Or what the benefits of a higher humidity are?
