First time grow, White Widow.

Started the grow March 16, 2013. Will have pictures up soon, don't have a lot of time on my hands this week. Going to try and include everything from start to finish. Looking for some positive feedback.


This is going to be my grow room. It's a 10x7, running two 600 watt lights with lumatex bulbs pushing around 95,000 lumens. As you can see i've hung mylar all around, I have an inline fan which I will be connecting a carbon filter to a little later in the grow. In terms of watering I have a very simple pond pump that can pump 660 gallons per hour; that is hooked up to a manifold with 15 lines running off of that. I'll try to get a couple pictures of my ballasts uploaded, i'm going to be running both digital one lumatex and one next-generation.

Had a couple more pictures I was able to round up. Hope you guys like them. Girlfriend convinced me to post pics of our construction pretty sure no one wants to see them but they are there for the pleasure (she calls it hard work). Also found a picture of the ballasts i'm going to be running.


I've got 20 white widow seeds germinating in wool cubes right meow. They are inside a plastic ziploc bag sitting on top of a moist paper towel. They have been germinating for a little over two days now, and I just saw my first sprout tonight. Currently the temp inside is 90 degress which is a little hot so I've propped two of the doors open, and have a current running through to pull out some of the hot air, hopefully the temp will drop back in the desired 82-84 degree range.

Nice pics, did you do the math to work out optimal light vs that space? On the avg, you can stretch a 600w to 5x5 for veg only, but would never really want to go past 4x4 for a single 600w during flower.

Yeah i've worked out the math for the space I have to cover. Having the lights horizontally aligned with the room worked a lot better than the vertical would have. However, I was thinking about investing in another 600 watt for the next grow, don't think i'm going to have the funds this grow to get it in.

Woke up this morning.

Sproutlings growth overnight. If it comes out female, she will be our mother plant . Room temp is about 82 degrees now with fan running in front of it. How ever haven't seen any sprouts from the other 19 cubes. Not too worried but a little concerned. Any advice?

So we shouldn't be too worried about the rate at which our seedlings are sprouting? Our first seedling is growing great and we have one more starting to sprout but as for the rest, there is no sign of any action. Are we just getting impatient? I'm just a little worried that a few points in the germination process the temperature got around 90 degrees and might have damaged the seeds. Though we lowered the temperature very quickly. Could that have been the case?

Agreed, Widow is solid in many aspects, and it's a great strain for learning to grow/the beginnings of many grows due to the abuse it can take.. depending on the seeds you have, it's also temp flux resistant, mold/mildew resistant, and drought resistant. (Please keep in mind that these characteristics don't cover -every- WW strain, but a few of them have at least 1, or more.. so you know what could appear)

Day Three had cube 3 and cube 15 begin to show signs of sprouting, they have not fully erected themselves keeping an eye on them. Moreover, we were able to transfer Cube 1 (which I hope is a female, would like to make her my mother plant) to a jiffy pot containing a pH balanced mixture of Black Gold soil and worm castings. Mixed the soil and worm castings at 1 cup of worm castings to a gallon of soil. Hope you enjoy! Any feedback?

Sounds like a plan so far, what's the NPK on those castings? 3-2-2? 1-0-1? 0-5-0? Any other blend I may not have listed?

Figong don't want to sound ridiculous, but i'm actually not for sure. I've looked all over the bag, and can not find a single thing. I'll look it up on the inter web hopefully I can find something.

To get back at you Figong it is a 100% chemical free and is going to have a neutral pH. Just another thing to add to the long list of why the plants love that shit so much.

So it has no nitrogen, phosphorus, or potassium in it at all? That's interesting.. what brand is this, out of curiosity?

Its called worm gold plus, it contains worm castings, kelp and mineral rock. We put a picture up. It's 100% organic so it says. Any suggestions or concerns? Any advice will help.

Just read about it, has N/P/K .. and amounts of 50 different trace elements and some micronutrients as well.. so should treat you well.

Yeah saw on the bag had kelp which I think is good. I'll try and upload couple more pictures of my sproutlings for you to have a look at, was wondering if I could get some critique on how they are coming along?
