photoperiod will usually show pronounced preflowers
before plants given a 24/0 day/night
photoperiod.
And, under a 16/8 day/night
regimen pre-flowers show more quickly and are
often more pronounced. Once pre-flowers are
distinguishable as female, plants can be induced
to flower with a 12/12 day/night photoperiod.
Always wait to induce flowering until after
pre-flowers appear. Inducing flowering with
12 hours of uninterrupted darkness and 12
hours oflight before pre-flowers develop will
stress the plant. This stress could cause odd
growth, and plants might grow into hermaphrodites.
Inducing flowering before pre-flowers
form will not speed flowering. Flowering will
occur
about the same time as if you had waited
for pre-flowers to show!


Tell me how you grow yours, mine right now are vegin at 18/6 under 205watts of CFLs each, spectrum mix is 3-6500k to 1-2700k right now for veg. Using MG Garden Soil with MG perlite (I know, next time fox farm happy frog)

Lady #1- 28 days from sprout, Indica dom, Blue Rhino (No noticeable sex yet)

Lacy #2- 30days from sprout, Sativa dom, Blue Rhino (Very noticeable sex, female)

Tell me what you grow, how it reacts to nutes, what light schedule, what soil, what type of lighting, etc... hell tell me anything you want as long as it's good info, thanx in advance...(just seeing what works and what doesn't)

its all good in theory but do you relize that it could takes months upon months of veg growth for some plants to show preflowers? and if people waited that long the plant would be way to big for alot of indoor grow spaces? because were talking big 1-2 pound outdoor monsters .

i do agree that 12/12 from seed is pointless but only because regardless they still have a veg period of about a month or untill the 3 node or so. when you can give them 18 hours for a month and get alot better growth from them and it still takes just as long from start to finish.

but to veg untill preflowers is just not productive thats why its not done. and considering all the people who flower before they know sexes i doubt that its to big a stress

Cool. I'd never heard/read that (and I've spent countless hours reading up on stuff), but it does make sense. The more nature-like your set-up, the less stressful it'll be on the plant. I wonder, though, if it's really harmful. Yield will already be low since the plant will be so much smaller, but does it affect trichome production, potency, ect.?

I'll check out the link once I'm back to my PC, since I'm planning to run 12/12 on my current seedlings.

months upon months ? bit of an exaggeration. don't most varieties show preflowers within two months ?

My best advice to newer growers since lights and fertilizers and all are already well covered as are time schedules - if you want yield then veg those bitches. The plant will not exceed its genetic characteristic growth as far as height. But a long veg allows you to top multiple times and develop a very strong branch structure. Strong healthy motherf$%*#ng plants yield the biggest and best buds. Veg at least 2 strains for 2 months - 8 weeks. Learn more about plants by watching it. Then flip that bitch to 12/12 and stand back. Stretch will be minimal and I hope there is no need for an explanation why. But bud development won't be. The energy she would have spent stretching toward the "sun" for light is done so she can focus on the buds!!!!!!

Yep good point made, but in that same "clip" it says it's ok to do 12/12 after it shows pre flowers in week 4 to 6 of veg...although that's just what I'm readin, and haven't actually done it yet, but I may as well, I have a lady showin so I'm thinking she's goin 12/12 tonight.

I've read that some Sativa strains are resistant to this, and can take up to 3-4 months to show pre-flowers!!! Don't want that, I'm a n00b and impatient..lol

Ya good point, I'm impatient, so I already threw my biggest that's showin pistils in the 12/12 box (took a cutting)..lol..but I still have 3 good ones vegin...I wana see the difference for myself (not to mention smoke my own bud for the first time)

Induce flowering indoors by giving plants more hours of total
darkness
and fewer hours oflight. Give cannabis 12 hours of
uninterrupted
darkness and 12 hours oflight to induce visible
signs of flowering in two weeks or less. This program i

all but the latest-blooming pure sativa strains.

You're talking to one the kings of impatience. But as I have aged I have learned to be patient with things where patience pays off. Making wine, growing good bud. My advice then to those of us with ADHD (yes I am serious I am a lifelong sufferer) is to keep flipping your plants but . . . at some point set 2 aside. 2 different strains, started for this purpose. Sprout (don't get me going on that idiotic paper towel bit or dunking in water for 24) and then get a 23-watt 6500K CFL right on top of it. Cheap spun aluminum bowl reflectors are PERFECT for this. Look for those with vent holes by the socket.

After they are a couple weeks old buy a small T5 HO. Or a 400 watt MH. Use a low bay shop fixture as they are perfect - I use 2 I have converted. Put them somewhere where they are comfortable. This dedicated grow room with humidity at X% and temps exactly between 60 and 75 and yadda yadda are enough to scare people away. Bullshit. Put a cheap fan in there and a timer on 20/4. Yes 20/4 and read what Cervantes said. Then after a month cut back to 18/6. A month after that - 12/12 under HPS.

Seriously, people do not keep their delicate newborn baby (a real frigging human here folks, not a seedling) anywhere near that climate controlled. Yet all turns out well. Good light, air moving, stay low on the nutrtients and, even though not flowering at all, begin supplementing cal/mag at minimal recommended dosages after about 6 weeks. Then, once in 12/12, NOW it's time to start coddling the bitches. It's boot camp before that.

yes there are some sativa varieties from equatorial zones that take a long time to mature. But how many growers are growing landrace Sativas?
These plants will also take a long time to finish once flowering starts. If your impatient probably shouldn't grow a variety that takes almost 3 months to finish flowering.

everyone is losing the most valuable part of indoor growing though. its growing plants under strict lighting conditions faster then it takes for say an outdoor plant to mature.

and most people as iv already said dont have the room to veg a plant for 2 months . after a month plants are atleast 12 inches if not more and then you want to add another month to it? and then get 12/12 stretch which atleast doubles height? were talking 6 foot plants when alot of growers use cabs and boxes and dont have rooms devoted to growing.

not to mention who wants to veg a plant for 2 months spend all that time and money for it to be a male? alot of people the majority veg for a month and then flower because it just makes more since and is more productive considering you have complete control indoors.

I hear ya buddy, I'm 45 and still have ADHD, weed really helps me concentrate on 1 thing at a time though sdfghj..squirell...lmao..it's actually that bad some times. But yeah I'm gona put 1 under CFLs for flower, and I'm getting a little 250w HPS to put another under, cuz I've heard alot of people swear by flowering w/HPS so I wana see the diff first hand..on a nice long veg, I'll try your recommendation of 24/0-18/6-12/12 for a month a time, well except flower of course.

yeah 12-12 is pointless, all these plants grown 12-12 from seed were all shit
