Recommend to me a Good Carbon Filter

I am looking for a 6 inch carbon filter that will adequately rid the area of smell for a 300-500 cfm fan. I want the best of the best so that there will be no smell leaking through. What would you recommend?

One of the guys in our grow group is an hvac dude. He bent up 2 of these boxes for me in about 20 minutes. I bought the filter cartridges online. Entire boxes (2) cost me $100.

The 2 of them clean an 8k, 36 plant flower room no problem

I got one made by Prima klima that works well enough for me. If my flower tent is shut then no smell escapes at all. Was one of the budget models too.

I can report that the DIY filters, the plans of which can be found here and elsewhere,
are very effective. I am in a zero tolerance of smell situation, and nothing has gotten
out of the man-cave.

Good luck,

JD

P.S. FWIW, I used this build. If there is a tech here, then perhaps someone can post it.

I have seen those, and they are quite fine indeed.

Sadly, I am a tad ghetto by necessity, though I like
my tent setup very much.

The really good news is that the smell issue can be
handled. I was mainly concerned about this when
I considered jumping into this hobby.

Take care,

JD

Phresh filters are very effective, smaller and lighter then most. They tend to last over 1 year too........

Phresh is good, keeps me smelling nice all day long, nite too ;-)

bag it when it's not in use or during veg and it will last a long, long time.

I mark on the bag when I open and close her up to extend the life.

From an old biker - oh hell fucking yes. Can't find it or it's too expensive or not good enough then head to the welding shop/sheet metal shop/electric motor rewinding shop. +rep for damned sure from Hot Rod!!! Hell yes.

What do you mean by bag it??

Place a plastic bag over it, I suppose.

I think that this would lower the exposure of the carbon
and would prolong its life.

Very interesting. Even my DIY filter may would benefit from this.

Thanks,

JD

P.S. Already rep'ed you Prosp.

When your carbon arrives, it should be in a sealed plastic bag. BTW check for tears or punctions and send it back if you find any. You only need the filter for flowering. When you first build your room you will need to remove the bag to mount it properly and check for fit. Then just pop it back off and throw it back in the bag. Seal it tight and check for leaks. If you take care of it, it will perform well for many years. Well worth the investment and higher cost for Phresh brand filters in my opinion. Odor was my #1 concern above everything else.

My house and attic have absolutely no odor. I close my office doors from the rest of the house and open the office grow closet 2 X 3 X 10. Bam, the smell from the grow fills the office room about 10 X 10 in just a few minutes. It's amazing how well the carbon scrubbers work. Once I seal the closet shut again it will take about 30-45 minutes for the office to clear the smell! And that's with the intake being in my office! I have to light candles, air freshners, odor gels to get my office back to normal. Anyway, that's what I go through.

Thanks for the clarification, I may have to use the filter before flowering, possibly not, at least I hope not but I can already start to smell a bit of the smell when i'm near the plants and they are still only a few inches tall.

That does sound great though, thanks for the advice, my room is a bit larger, 14 x 22 but I can only imagine the smell permeating it. luckily ill be able to open the grow at night.
