True enough, but honestly, that's quibbling. He voted in favor when he did have the opportunity to vote. In any event, let's try looking where his history is more established, in Illinois. Are you going to assert that he's actually clean?

Obama supported the SAFE act as an alternative. He wanted to change the PATRIOT act and expressed that he recognized the dangers but ultimately ended up voting on a compromise bill. Obama knew that the bill would be passed and the best use of his time would be to lessen the danger of the bill. He did however vote to filibuster Bush's version of the bill.

And, according to law, that vote should be recorded.

By you drawing a little box on your ballot in November, ticking it and writing Ron Paul next to it is basically saying 'I don't care about the legitimate candidates' I'm going to vote for who I want to be president.

You are demonstrating a slight misunderstanding of ballots and voting. There is ALREADY a little box with a blank area next to it where you are, by law, allowed to WRITE IN your candidate of choice and check the pre-printed box next to it. :mrgreen:

The thing most folks who write in candidates either don't appreciate or don't care about is that the person already meets qualifications for the position and they tend to use that space to make "objection" votes. Those are wasted votes that will be noted before being tossed.

this is a glacier...as you can see it is not in the water....so when it melts it is going to change the water level...in your "experiment" if you added more ice to the glass it would raise the water level....

I concur and I understand what you're saying and do believe me when I say that I'm not telling you to "not" vote for Obama; I just don't believe that he's as great a candidate as many supporters believe him to be. I'd be willing to bet that there are many supporters of his that weren't aware of his past voting record. I do believe that he will take the Oval Office but I will vote my conscience regardless and cast my vote for Ron Paul.

As a former military soldier (US Army) w/ a son currently serving in the US Navy, both my son and I are those that served to preserve those said freedoms that you enjoy. Ron Paul doesnt stand a chance even if i do like some of his ideals. its just not possible! but honestly if romney stayed in the race and it came down to a romney/obama battle i planned to vote mitt in and I NEVER VOTE REPUB! but seriously... I have no idea who to vote for because I dont really like any of the runners much. but if i had to choose i'd pick clinton. she wont make it i dont think. but hey more power to her for toughing it out for the long haul!!

I know where I stand with RON PAUL. I know what he stands for and what he plans to do fix America. Why play the game that is biased from the media, why not advocate who you honestly believe in.

yeah the florida thing was fucked but you have to realize the bush family are snakes in the grass and at the time Jed bush was doin his thang down there and of course wanted his bro to win office.
but voting for someone who isnt a front runner candidate is just throwing your vote away.
yeah none of the front runners at this point are really exactly what anyone wants, but honestly theres flaws in every president. Im not an obama supporter and honestly i have no idea who I will vote for, but i know that if it comes down to the two primary candidates I'll vote for the democrat because by voting 3rd party Im pretty much saying I DONT CARE!!

As someone who cares, and cares deeply (enough to have tried dipping my own toe into the political pool once), I find that I still somewhat resent it when people tell me that I am 1) throwing my vote away and, 2) that I don't care, or care "enough", because I choose to vote the way I do.
