What does everyone else think? I think it's not only a huge waste but who the hell is anyone to tell anyone that deer meat is not permitted to be served in a shelter? Who made that rule/law, and what gives them the right to make that law?

Where I'm from there was a wild game dinner that was serving deer with wasting disease. They no longer allow the public advertisment of such dinners.

I guess the big thing was it was unknown what had happened to the meat up until the slaughterhouse. They probably just didn't want a lawsuit if the meat was not handled properly. The Blaze, owned by Glen Beck, is not exactly the most unbiased news organization.

First of all this belongs in the politics forum. Secondly, donated deer meat poses a serious health risk. People die from eating spoiled or tainted deer meat. The meat has not been inspected and there is a high risk of contamination. There is no law stopping you from eating your OWN deer meat. If you're going to get angry get angry over something that isn't a fabricated issue. What you should be pissed off about is the GOP taking us over another cliff which will damage the economy simply because O'Bama is president. Talk about a fabricated crisis.

Is no slaughter house, a local processing plant prepares the meat once it has been donated by the state’s many hunters. Mon would think this meat would be better than much of the "meat" you buy at your local store, thousands of dollars worth of meat that would help the hungry go to waste is absolutely disturbing.....Sorry your starving to death, we can't let you get sick!!!!!!

It's sad that the state of LA wont check the meat before destroying it, Lots of deer and hungry people in LA. but of corse if they did they would catch flack from the Beef/pork/chicken Producers of America, got to protect those profits.

Did you know P.A.W.S. and many other animal rescue's have many wild animals that they have rescued and they have many tigers and bears that would eat this meat? They depend on donations of expired meats from the supermarkets, one tiger can easily eat 20 lbs of expired chicken a day. The local P.A.W.S. near mon has over 40 tigers and struggles to feed these animals on "donations".

I agree with that but spoiled meat isnt hard to spot. Wouldnt take much to check it.

yeah I really have no idea what it takes to check the meat. Usually with my chipped ham I just give it the old smell test.

A professional butcher could get it figured out very quickly.

And I had not thought of the idea of donating it to an animal rescue organization.
Surly that meat doesn't need to be inspected ?
