somewhat newbie cloning query~

I have a Sugar Punch plant that I have been vegging for nearly 7-8 weeks... I just put it into a 7 gallon airpot getting ready to start flowering her. My intention was to lollipop the plant and take the cuttings for clones. Come to find out I now have somewhat of a "treetrunk" with a hardened exterior and the lower branches are pretty much the same... I guess you'd say it's like "bark" on a tree...lol~!
Will these cuttings be suitable to clone???

* I guess I should add I've had great success taking clones prior to this... just with younger plants having stems with much softer tissue... "new growth" if you will~ So the hardened "bark" has me concerned although my instincts are telling me it's probably not an issue

should be fine how big are the clones if you are going all the way to the bark my clones are no more than first 3" of branch woody part is usualy much larger say 5" or more.

not sure I understand completely.... the stem of the plant is completely covered in bark.... the cuttings which I planned to take are also very woody... the bottom 3 or 4 nodes are now completely hardened.... I'd have to go up to the 5th or 6th nodes to take cuttings with new tissue which I'd rather not do.... maybe I can snap a pic and it will help.... be back in a few...lol~

Avoid taking cuts from woody areas unless you absolutely have to. Its much easier to root nice fresh growth.

just scrape down to the soft tissue underneath....they should be fine. remember the more you scrape off the length of the stem the better chance to root because more is under soil. but they should be good as long as you can scrape the wood off. Probably easier said then done though, never tried honestly...

yeah I snapped a pic but it isnt really showing what I'm trying to explain.... you can see the bark on the main stem but I was hoping to show how woody the lower nodes are as well

Thats what I was thinking.... scrape gently with a razor and just remove the "bark"..... its such a beautiful plant, def a keeper... I don't want to flower her until I have some babies!!!! lol~
