Hello ,
Is there a percentage approximate of how many plants u need to grow to get a purple pheno?
I grew 5 granddaddy purple and all 5
Were green phenos , even the males.
Can anyone recommend a purple strain
With high percentage of purple phenos?
Are the chances better with fem seeds or reg?
Thanks

Cold temps during the dark period (60F or even less) are the key to making the "purple" strains go purple:

Here's Green Crack S1 from Sickmeds Se eds:

Like Jogrow said , cold temps. My bubba is slowly turning purple at around 58*. I think if I would have started lowering the temps at night earlier in flower it would already be nice and purp. Grown this pheno twice before with no purple color at all , only difference this time is the cold temps.

Purple is nice to look at but if it's purple and lacks potency, flavor, and/or yield is it really desirable? Or a wolf in sheep's clothing? Some purple strains are potent and good but I've HEARD that MANY are on the weaker side. Everything I've had that has the reputation to turn purple has ended up green as grass also -most probably due to higher temps.

Im not an expert on purple strains, but i heard that there are actually two different ways a plant can turn purple. Most plants would turn purple from cold temps because potassium is locked out when it gets too cold for the roots to absorb it. Some strains are naturally prone to producing a shit ton of anthocyanin at the end of their lifecycle (because of their genetics). Anthocyanin is a blue/purple/red pigment. Hope this makes sense...im baked...

oh yeah, also, check out Cali Connection's Blackwater. Their goal with that strain was to get a dark purple OG.

TGA Plushberry, TGA Querkle, TGA Deep Purple, a lot of TGA strains have purple in them, with aromas and flavors to die for.. Also Kens Granddaddy Purple is dank shit too..

My darkest purple ever came off of TGA's Cheese Quake. Was the lowest yield of 3 females in a 5 pack, but SOLID purple covered with frost. Try any of his Querkle crosses.

Thanks everyone .
I think I will try Black Water , KF3 , and plushberry.
Night temps in my GR only get down to about 69F , so Im looking for a strain that has the genetics to
turn purple without tricks. Is there any strains that have purple pheno as a Dominant instead of a recessive trait ?
Thanks

YES, KILLING FIELDS - ok, I'll stop yelling now. If you want to get a ten pack of seeds and be guaranteed a purple pheno then get the killing fields f3. That's killing fields for guaranteed purple if you didn't get it the first five times.

Purple Wreck from Reserva Privada(on pretty much every seedbank site) has a high chance of being purple from what I've read.
It's also on my "to do" list =]
