9.00 minimum wage is not enough...

It doesn't matter what minimum wage is. If it goes to 30.00 an hour, milk will cost 18.00 a gal, corperate execs will be making 100's of millions, managers will make 500,000 a year. socials classes will never go away. Thats kinda the way I see it.
Shush! We don't want to spoil the liberal dream world by inserting facts.

If everyone has to have health insurance, then me thinks everyones parents will have it. You seem to have forgotten a lot.
They can't make you buy the insurance, they just fine you (excuse me, "tax"), for a lot less, if you don't. Many will choose to pay the fine. Even more will neither buy insurance or pay the fine.

It's been over $9/hr here in WA for a while, I wonder what it'll go up to now....and we don't allow cuts for servers and tips employee's like they do on the east coast, they get the full $9+ minimum wage plus tips. When I lived in MD they could pay you some fucking $2/hr if you worked for tips.
So I guess I should feel no obligation to leave a tip if I'm ever in WA.

One of the stupidest reasons for hating obamacare. 90 dollars. Try getting healthcare without a company plan and see how much it costs.

I can understand people saying they would rather make the choice themselves, government should stay out, government is gonna be inefficient... and so on. But 90 dollars?

I bet you would keep paying for your cell phone, cable, booze and cigs before paying child support if you had kids.

The amount of money a person is forced to spend isn't the issue, the idea that a person is forced is the issue. Either people are free to make choices or they are not.
Rationalizing that a little bit of theft is okay...seems a little misguided.

Ok 9.00 p/h is 18,700 =74.00 per month,.........10.00 p/h =89.00.....A fifteen dollar difference, not enough to argue over really..
Assuming 40 hours a week. Since those working 40 hours a week will supposedly get employer provided insurance, we should disregard them. That leaves those whose hours will be less than 40 a week (a number that is growing as we speak). I assume they may qualify for Medicaid, so we really can't predict what they may or may not be required to pay. My concern is that waiting lists will become the norm.

not every employer offers insurance to their 40 hour a week employees.

wanna know what my wait was to see a doctor when i had private insurance through my employer? 3 weeks.

you were saying something though?

yes. people making up to 133% of poverty, about $15k for a single no children, will be eligible for medicaid. then it goes up from there. people making up to 400% of poverty will have their premiums capped by law. a single no children making $20k a year ($10 an hour) will pay about 5%, or $85 bucks a month at most. a single no children making $45k a year (400% of poverty) will pay about 10%, or $350 bucks a month at most. that is about what you would have to pay on the open market for insurance if you had no job or got no benefits, aka the current reality. many will pay less. back when i was making $28k or so a year, my employer offered a decent enough plan at $50 a month.
That must have been a looooong time ago. Damn, how old are you?

I'll ask you again, what exactly do private health insurance companies contribute? .......They have funded nearly all the medical care given in the last 50 years or more........... You say all you have to do is send a letter- now what if your bill was not 12k but 112k? you figure a letter would do you any good? What recourse do you have if they don't pay? .......The courts................. Oh, and you want an example of government making something better? Medicare, before medicare we had pretty much chaos. Imagine what would happen now if folks over 65 had to go out and get private insurance - that is if they could get it at all, it would be thousands a month, and if they had chronic conditions? Then what?.......... If you calculate the sum contributed to Medicare over 40 plus years of your working life, I suspect the amounts would come out nearly equal. Currently, the government pays much less than the market rates for care, while foisting off the expense of their self-awarded "discount" onto everyone else. If we go to a universal healthcare system, there won't be a private sector to cover the balance. Costs will go up or the amount of care given will go down. I suspect that both will occur.

So, even more than I proposed. See what a $50 a month got you for coverage?

are you insane. that is enough for anyone to make a good wage off of. i lived off making 7.25 and hour for my first place. id like more than 9 for mim wage, it would be a lot better.
Try $1.60/hr. That was the original minimum wage.

role of women ,,,, hmm let me think. gross purly gross, most assume the wife role the first chance they get and then wine that they dont get treated fairly. since time began women were pushed to the side because they let themselves get pushed aside. Take over women and let the house be split in 2. half for man to take care of and half for women. both cook, clean, work, shop, take care of the house, ect. change the idea of role in general and things will get better
Kind of eliminates most of the advantages of being married. Also makes for a drafty house. If the wife works outside the home, then house keeping duties should be split between the spouses. If the husband doesn't work, then he should take care of the house. I draw the line at breastfeeding the baby, tho.

Kinda depends on where you live doesn't it? If I am in an area where the cheapest place I can rent is a thousand dollars, then seven bucks and a quarter won't cut it if I want to eat as well.
It works fine as long as you don't mind sleeping under bridges.

Looks like Obama care will foot at least part of the bill for smoking cessation programs. Smoking is a choice, smoking costs society, why should I have to pay for someone elses dangerous habit? I don't care where information comes from, it is opinions that are suspect depending upon where they emminate. Of course, of late, news sources have been known to distort the truth and unfortunately we have seen more of this distortion on the right than on the left and so just on this basis, sometimes rightists sources, especially ones that are funded by very self serving groups or individuals, can be suspect.
Most, if not all, the smoking cessation programs are very unsuccessful. You're paying for alcoholism now. Your assumption that "rightists" sources are less reliable than "leftist" sources is just personal bias. Pretending the AP is "rightist" is just laughable.
