For those truly interested - Colorado is a great place to live. However, and this began well before pot was legalized there, the feeling about work and pay is "Let them eat scenery". Think I'm wrong? Seasoned Colorado residents will agree. If you have an education and your degree or experience or license or whatever is in demand you will live better. However, if you have few skills, no licenses or certifications (not including a drivers license) you will likely find yourself busing tables. Seasonal kids have arrived in CO forever. College kids looking to earn and live between semesters.
If the pay is not enough for you then get the hell out of the way for somebody who will work for that amount. I am not attempting to dissuade a single person from moving there. Just try to get there with your eyes and mind open and not like some "eastern slope" moron.

Never resided there, but I did spend 2 full summers bicycling and rafting the Arkansas river. We started out in near Gunnison, headed up Monarch pass...which sucked!. I had to walk it. The town I liked even more than Aspen was Buena Vista, where we ditched the bikes for rafts. I didn't care much for the western portion of the state, but that was more due to pedaling in the dry heat. I think it was Salida or Salina?, that's where I ran out of water the first summer.
Another town I really liked was Lake City near Lake San Cristobal.

Salida - Spanish for "Exit". Saguache is near there. That's where they jailed Alferd Packer for eating his mining venture partners that winter.

Well I guess it depends on your real needs. We have move several times and have always made it...The MMJ industry is alive in other states as well...And more hopefully...But moving for the intention of growing there are a lot of places where U can grow...

Im a bit late to chime in, but i live in colorado springs. Ive been here for about two years, originally from san diego. Its beautiful out here man. Besides the current legalization of our common ground, the people out here are great, lots of pot smokin hippies, so its really easy to make friends and get around. If i had any say on the subject id tell you to go for it! I have a small 400w grow going right no, and its worry free! No getting locked up for a pc grow, let alone a multi-1000w room. good luck on your journies, i hope you find what your looking for!

Your advice and insight is taken with the grain of salt knowing that you arrived there from San Diego. Again - it's the work and rent gigs. If you are employable and can afford a place to live then all is good. Go there, be broke, live in a cockroach palace and I'll promise you will not be able to smoke enough legal to make it all worth it.

I am not excited at all at being transferred. I avoided it 2 years ago by accepting one from NM to AK. Now corporate changes and our corp headquarters is in Denver. Too old to just quit and walk away so back to CO. And I feel the need to explain myself because the idea of picking up and crossing the country to legally grow 6 plants and smoke pot is not bordering on insane - it breaches that line. I'm not nuts, I'm just a couple years shy of being able to retire and get Medicare that I have worked for and paid taxes into since 1966 according to my SS statement online. Then back to Alaska where NOBODY screws with you. Nobody is bothering me or mine, the scenery blows CO away and CO is spectacular in many many places. I love CO. But the idea of what little was left of cool is going quickly with the thought of caravans of honyockers heading west.

at 11, household chore money wasnt enough. i started pushing around a lawn mover and picked up weekly clients. fall hit and i adjusted to raking. then winter- shoveling. by 12 my work ethic for my age had word of mouth cllients lining up to hire me for petty jobs to support my "go getta" attitude. did this very succesfully til i could legally work at 16. started as a dishwasher, by 21 i was executive chef. been doing it for 3 years and im ready to start a new adventure. and colorado seems like a favorable play ground.
