First grow! Are my plants too small...

Hey guys I'm new here and I have need some simple advice. My babies are about 3 1/2 weeks from sprout and the look very healthy and are growing well but they're bushing out witch I like but they're not doing much vertically.... The strain is THC Bomb from Bomb Seeds NL, and they're under a 600w MH. The plan is to veg them out for about 8 weeks then then I wanna take them into flowering to sex them (hopefully I get full females) then cut them up to make clones and keep them as mothers. But I'm not seeing much vertical growth... I guess What I'm trying to say is being that these girls' only purpose in life is to grow big and tall to get cut up, do I want a taller more lanky plant to be a mother, or is my short bushy plant just fine and I'm worrying about it too much? Any advice from more experienced will be appreciated thanks!
I aint got sweet FA for expireince but id suggest getting those plants in larger containers soon. You would be best off to have them running on as low watts as possible if they are going to be mothers. Youd most likely want a nice round canopy so id top lots later in development. Id figure youd want to keep them as small as possible so maybe a quart or a half gallon. I wouldnt dead end the roots but maybe just restrict them as they grow. Then keep getting larger containers until youve found the right size to deal with the demand. Smaller would seem to be better if your only planning to cut 6-15 cuttings, but if you need more you may need an 8 bulb t5 and a three foot plant with a five gallon plus container, under cut nicely. But if you need this many clones theres no reason why you cant sex one of your clones, and if your going eight weeks you could also have a clone sexed so i dont see much reason to kick your plants to flower to sex them and then back. Would you like it if someone whipped out your dick in front of the girls and then told you it wasnt playtime yet? :):):)

Nah your right. but why does it start to die off because there's not enough food in the soil or because they're all tangled up?
Hey meatball, is it your intention to derail every thread your on? Because you do. Your lack of intellegent answers causes the thread to dive. Do you understand the number of people you have un/intentionally caused to not get solid answers because of your injecture? Please stop thread jacking, you have no ground for your suggestion.

Looking good. Your on the right track. As i say to all, patience is a main ingredient to growing. Just add in some patience and you will be fine. Stick with what you are doing so far.

This is why i try not to let the young child bother me, because i realized it makes the thread do a reverse 180, and it never answers the OP's questions.

It depends on or growing area. The mother will display traits that will carry onto its clones! If you have a tall space then pick a tall mother, if you have a short space pick a short squat mother! Remember, you can for the most part alter both these by good pruning habits. It does look like your plants are pretty squat growing though

That was my plan to sex a cutting off of each while I keep the others in veg. When do you suggest I take my first cutting I was think about 2 weeks after I transplant...

Id say when you have four nodes, id cut it back to the second node she has four main tops. Just make sure the clone is tall enough when you take it. Nobody likes a stumpy clone :):):)

Let the plants get big enough you can take a proper 3-4 inch clone off of it. Top them down to the 2nd or 3rd node, and use the whole top as your first clone. This is what I do with all my seedlings. Then veg out the mother and flower the clone as soon as it has roots and is stable. Honestly once your mother reaches maturity you will be able to tell the sex most likely either way. Your girls are looking good for their age, and seem like they will have a nice node spacing and formation. I don't care for tall lanky plants, they can be hard to keep controlled, and if the nodes are spaced out alot won't usually yield well.

So you don' t necessarily have to flower the plant to tell sex? Also the first thing I noticed about those babies were their node spacing it was nice and tight I credit that to the MH veg  , and I'm not saying I want a tall lanky play I'd prefer a shorter, bushy, compact plant I just was asking if that would be ok for a potential mother lol not exactly in those words lol.

Well you gotta figure if the mom is tall and lanky so will the clones, and then when they do the flower stretch, it can be hard to deal with change in size some times, or they can stretch and get top heavy and have to be supported.

I am saying that usually by week 5-6 sometimes sooner some times longer, that the plants will reach maturity, and show sex all on their own. I just had 2 plants that have been vegging for about 6 weeks that showed some male balls. I hadn't even noticed until I went to take some clones off them, but then I chopped em down instead. All the rest of the seedlings I've got going have begun showing pistils so I know they are gtg.

I agree, on my current seed run i was able to find out the sex almost a month before the ladies and males showed their goodies. I was hung over and dropped the tray of clones i was sexing and a bunch of the markers fell out. I just kept going and when the clones showed sex i knew how many males and how many females i had but i didnt know which ones they were. Finally a few weeks later they showed while still in veg so that kinda saved the day for me. Moral of the story is sexing helps save time, and a seed tray is not a waiters tray and should not be carried like one :):):)

Ya seed trays can get kinda floppy once they have some weight in them. I almost lost a batch of clones in a similar manner a couple years ago. Sexing clones is great, I am not a big fan of sexing a mom and then switching her back to veg. I know guys reveg plants, and such all the time, but the idea of switching back and forth seems like way to much stress to me.

True that on the sexing mothers thing. I guess I'll just take it 1 day at a time I'll let em grow big and strong and I hope they show me signs of sex while in veg bc I really dont have an area right now to flower a clone while the others are in veg. Also I just transplanted them to 3 gallon buckets both of them have a nice big root ball!

My brother started growing a couple years ago when I passed him some used gear. He didn't have room to keep clones or veg much, so he made a small cabinet out of a cardboard box with 4 or 6 cfls inside and a computer fan in the side. It allows him enough room to veg one small plant untill he has room to flower it, and then he will take a couple clones, and just keep the one that is the strongest and vegges that in the box for awhile. Just a thought for ya, but he keeps its all in the same room and it has allowed him to save his genetics for awhile now. Or perhaps I should say it has allowed him to keep my genetics, lol cus that's what he is running now is my WW.

I was thinkin the same thing I have some left over mylay which I can line a cardboard box with I was going to do that If I didn't see any signs of sex in veg. :blsmoke:
