My friend who is a carpenter came and helped me build this GIANT grow box. The dimensions are 10x6, 6x 600w cooltubes w/reflections outside the tube itself. Plz let me know what you think!


Vortec exhaust fan on a manifold setup with the cool-tubes


Exit vent for the air conditioner, above the left light you can see the top of the inlet vent for the Co2 propane burner
w/ computer fan to blow the C02 into the room and fall onto the plants.

Another view, the rows of lights, also a fan on each side plus two more blowing up towards the ceiling that will help swirl
around the C02 once it has entered the room.

C02-PPM monitor, this baby will help A LOT!

This is outside the room, 6x electronic ballasts have their own space w/ventilation and the door swings up so no one is the wiser

Also outside the room, in a closet that is raised to allow for gravity-fed watering, also this is underneath the ballast closet so when you walk in the whole thing just looks like a regular wooden work bench.



I also have a monitor on the outside of the room to keep things in check, there has been a few more things done, if you guys want to see more pix please comment and let me know!

Yeah the work in there looks really well thought out and done. Nice clean and neat. You have yourself one hell of a money making grow room.

What type of medium are you using ? Just growing in dirt ? I seen your gravity watering system but doesn't seem like a very big reservoir for that size room. But I obviously can be wrong just judging from the pic.

1. I saw the Air conditioner (very nice and clean install) in the corner...how do you plan on circulating the cold air throughout the whole room evenly?

2. What's your plans for the Co2 run time and room flush.

3. Please share more details....this is interesting. I have OCD so I have to admit some of the exposed materials could be clamped down for that "EXTRA tidy" look. However you set yourself up one heck of a room. Shit it makes me happy just thinking of a fellow gardener that took his / her hobby to the next level.

I'm confused you have three mechanical timers to run your 6 lights? you should be able to run them all on one of those timers. SOOO much simpler. Another thing, you may want to put a manual damper on the first cool tube duct closest to your fan as it will suck more air than the furthest creating uneven cooling a dimmer switch on that fan could be a good investment too. get yourself a digital infrared thermometer (20 buks on ebay) and you can dial in your cooling on those tubes. You are looking for around a 15 degree temperature rise from the intake air to the output on your tubes. any more temp rise and you are not moving enuf air any less temp. rise and you are throwing money away in electricity consumption.I have 10 yrs exp. in HVAC field. Other than those minor improvements I think your spot looks beautiful I also say give your buddy a 12 pack and a bag on first harvest as a big thanks. This coming from a fellow construction worker ya know.

CO2 has to be emitted very close to plants to be effective. Most will run suspended tubing with holes or nozzles above each plant. Blowing it in with an exhaust fan will not be worth it. If you have good intake, you dont need CO2 nor would it be effective.

those timers are intermatics t101 rated at 30 amps. two would do it but i will bet hes running 3 separate circuits at 20 amps each.

My intermatics are rated at 40 amps and are plenty big enuf to run 6 -600s especially if wired for 240 either way even if his are not big enuf it would be easier to wire a separate relay into one timer to run his other lights off of.so he can run more than one circuit thru one timer. rather than trying to get all three mechanical timers to turn on/off at the same time. It is not like the intermatics are precision digital instruments. Basically it works like this ya need a 120 volt coil relay, wire it to close when timer comes on. you run another circuit to one side of relay and another set of outlets off the other side of the relay. Voila you have another entirely separate set of outlets running off one timer. You could do this virtually as many times as you want as the coils on the relay draw very little juice. This is how I am wiring for my expansion I am adding two more 1 kwers and adding a thirty site ebb system to my 8x8 sog. I hate throwing my mums away so I figure I will just flower them. my timer is big enuf to handle all 4 lights since it is rated at 40 amps but I am running these two lights off a second meter to split up the bill.Regardless of all that if those ballasts are 240 volt ready all ya got to do is cut the plug off and put a 240v plug on and they would only pull around 3 amps each. 3 amps x 6 ballasts is well under the safe limit for a 30 amp breaker. either way I think the dude has a sweet spot there i just see problems with trying to get three mechanical timers to go on off simultaneously.

yeah that makes perfect sense. im using a 1040 40 amp digitals @220 and wired parralel in and out of three boxes with 220 plug end and single receptacle. was looking at his setup and hes running @110 or at least his recepticals are 110. never seen double recepts in 220 in standard box. did i mention i am no pro. how would the relays be costwise compared to timers. thanks

Thanks for the comments guys! I am not a carpenter or a construction guy, my buddy who helped is the carpenter. And yes i am running 3 circuits at 20 amps, lightens the load rather than having two. The cool air from the A/C will be circulated via A fan pointing upwards, i did a grow room before (that was a lot less organized) and this feels like its own environment when you walk inside!. The comment regarding needing the C02 intake, this room will be more of a closed system rather than alot of intake from the outside... We will be running a fair amount of C02 Btw... And very true, it should be emitted close to the plants, but when you consider the plants will be around 3-4 feet and there will be fans that turn on and circulate the C02, while the others turn off... Time on should be around 15 minutes, every 2-3 hours? Not quite sure about what the intervals should be. These girls will be grown in regular old number 1 soil mix, probably 10 Gal pots, i was thinking about going hydro, however i think going simpler would be better in this situation.


Edit: Yes, the "manifold" pipe coming off the vortec fan is tapered up from the normal tubing that runs through the lights, i hope it will be good enough.
