Okay to water plant before night cycle?

It is ok to water your plant before night cycle just dont overwater it overwatering 1 time is ok but try keeping the soil damp and plants love a good dry out sometimes
 
ahhh gotcha! thanks guys! its been awhile i actually watered it. ive just been misting it. ill hold off for a while now. appreciate the replies!
 
No need to mist the plant if you just watered it.... dont make a habit of watering before night cycle.. Im not even gonna tell you why because you have over 100 posts and you know how to use the search function....... good luck

Yeah I normally water em once every couple days n try to water when lights on just a preference tho long as u ain't continuously watering
 
Water uptake occurs when lights first go on or the sun comes up. It continues intermittently during times of high demand - lots of light and heat. When the light subsides so does water uptake. Water at night and the roots swim. Asking for problems.

I've seen this debated before with no real proof of which is better, but the slight majority seem to lean towards early in the daylight cycle.

Personally, I water them when they are dry and need watering, I'm not concerned as to what time of day it may be.

So botanists and horticulturists have no idea what they are talking about then according to you?

He is correct...added with what i said.....is asking for mold
 
water when you want , plants outside dont get to decide when it rains , there may be some scientific reason why raining just before the sun comes up is slightly beneficial but im pretty sure the difference is so small its hardly worth worrying about. water when it suits you or you're plant .
if you are using a decent medium with the correct drainige your roots will not sit in a puddle of water , even better make the step into hydro or coco .:joint:
 
If I found plants showing signs of water stress (wilting from being too dry) at lights off I'd hit them with a little bit of water, then water properly at lights on.

Under no circumstances would I mist them where they stayed wet after lights off. My opinion only.

your kidding right? mold needs sunlight for photosynthesis, that is why hydro is not done in a clear res.... I am preferable to lights on since your plant is not in photosynthesis during the night and could just cause problems, that being said I have had to do wat aim said and seen no negative side effects, just prob would not make it a habit

Someone calling me?? I live in a desert so I really don't ever see mold but still like to water in the mornings. Easy to check the runoff quantity, etc. in the mornings with a clear head... usually too baked to deal with plants at night. :shock:

mold is a fungus it does not require light for photosyntesis. mold dosent do photosentisis it grows by breaking down organic matter such as plants
 
manage your watering cycle so that you water near the beginning of the light cycle.

High RH, wet leaves and cool wet soil during dark, cool temperatures will only encourage mold, bacterial diseases, and various pests. Think Pythium(root rot), slugs (outdoors), and PM.
