you crack a seed it opens up and your seed becomes the first set of leaves. down between the first round seed leaves little jagged leaves grow. your first real leaves. there isnt any. only a split seed.

Leave it alone it's growing in a day or 2 the first set of leaves will finish pushing the seed pod apart. The first set of leaves will be round and the second set will be jagged, patience is a virtue. If the little white root in 1/2 inch long, plant it, white root down and seed pod at soil level.

thanks for the info but these are like they are glued on. firmly attached.seed shells are very thick and the cotyledons grown right into them. nothing usual.

if i add water they will rot. i would say they are blanks. like eggs with whites and no yolk.

That cold Canadian air impedes circulation. Leave them alone or spray them with water. The plant knows what to do.

Hey daalma so for the bad sense of humor I apologize, I know it’s not funny when $260 is on the line. Your quality seeds are far different from bag seed in many ways, probably smaller in size first of all and mainly genetics. Not all seeds behave like the last ones.
You probably already know how to start seeds but I will say it anyways just for someone else that might care. Take two identical small plates, lay paper towel on each plate, wet with room temperature water, when paper towel is completely wet, hold over the sink and drain off extra water.Take one plate, make sure paper is not hanging over the sides and add your seeds. Take second plate, remove the wet paper towel and lay it on top of the seeds making sure it does not hang over the edge. Place the second plate on top of the other plate, UPSIDE DOWN. Place your seeds somewhere where the temps are steady and warm, I don’t mean hot I mean room temp. Mine go on a top shelf in the bedroom.
Now don’t mess with your seeds or even look at them for at least 24 hours, after that don’t add water unless you really need to but if you took a full sheet of paper towel and folded it, wetted it, lightly drained, you will not need to add more water. Make sure there is no draft or fan blowing air on the plate; this will dry the paper towel.
After you see the root ¼ to ½ inch long plant it, root down and seed level with the soil. Add a LITTLE water to the soil, do not drown your seedlings ever, at first or after germination, some baptize at first but why is it necessary if the seeds are sitting in wet paper towel.
As far as your problem from last night, I think you really didn’t even have a problem but you gave so few details, I would say that you probably used too much water, left them sit out of soil after germination for two long, and was impatient with the seed pod. I already talked about the amount of water,now I will suggest that you do not let the root get too long before you plant it. When it is small (short) it is stronger (not as fragile) and can be easier planted without damage. The longer it sits on the paper towel the more chance it will start to rot because of the water going stale and the brown colour you saw was probably the stem colour.
And for your main concern from last night, if the seed was planted after germination, started to grow up from the soil and the pod decided to be troublesome you can remove it carefully but first give it a chance. I would only remove the stuck pod after I could see the first set of leaves starting to part where they grow out of the stem, leaving the leave tips stuck inside the pod. Hold the stem and pull WITH THE UPMOST GENTIALNESS ONE COULD EVER IMAGINE.
There are many ways to germinate seeds and this is one of them, this technique is what I use and it works for me. This comment is not directed at you but at new comers, I have notice since my short time here on Rollitup is the lack of importance given to water, used on plants. Seeding ONLY need a few drops just to keep the soil slightly moist, never soak the soil, and if you do soak, let it dry out before you every add water again, and that tip is not just for seedlings. Get a PH tester and a TDS meter, don’t put it off because of funds, fund raise and get the testers, learn how to use them, study your grow results, you will need this equipment to be able to grow the best weed that one could ever grow.

i appreciate your help. everything you explained i allready know. i have been growing for over 30 years. i have three grow rooms and about 10000.00 $ in equip. all the electronics. i have never
had this kind of problem.before. you are underestimating me. i can always make my way around a problem. this was just one of them unusual ones. for instance three of these seeds have no embryo membrane between the cotyledons and the seed husk. do you understand?

aha now we are communicating. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE. no i dont have a pic. that would be hard to take a pic of. so small. got a new camera but havent tried it yet. peace out
