as i've mentioned elsewhere, a few days ago i found a few bugs. i thought i got rid of them but nope.

i can't identify them yet. i just found another one today so i'm sure there are more.

they leave little silver splotches (which from what i read is from thrips) sometimes and sometimes a dead brown area.

when they are feeding, it's like they are stoned. they don't move even when i put my finger next to them.

i trapped this little fucker. any ideas what they might be? i sprayed him with don't bug me to see if it kills him. so far it just make him jump. lol

i just found some pictures that kind of look like this thing. could it be a leafhopper?

it hops, it's green and it sucks on leaves.

leafhopper. Thrips are super small and very light brown and if you have them youve probably been bit by one or two

from the pictures i've seen, they kind of look like potato leafhoppers. only they aren't as long as the potato one and they are more wedge shaped. i'm pretty sure they are leafhoppers but again, not positive. the little fucks sure can hop.

it's annoying but i ordered some new stuff to finish the battle against them. i check the garden everyday but never see more than one at a time.

i now have 3 different bug killers and a 1 gallon bug spray sprayer. so far, it's cost me about $80 not counting my time to fight these fucks. first i got the wrong kind of bug killer then i got some blue sticky traps which leafhoopers could care less about. :lol:

the plants look fine, just a few leaves here and there have marks on them. unless they are real damaged, i just leaf them alone.

once i harvest, the whole flower room is getting nuked.


hmmm, maybe they are planthoppers. this is the shape of the bug only it's green like a potato leafhopper.

in plant diseases horticulture they told us a general rule that if it's big enough to see with the naked eye its most likely a beneficial insect , not a pest. It sort of looks like an aphid though, which could cause serious damage. Look at the damage on the plant- is it really being destroyed ? Unless the damage gets to the 'economically damaging' point its better to avoid pesticides especially in flowering. hold a white paper under a branch and shake the branch, see if lots of bugs fall on the paper.

oh they definately feed on the leaves. they are so engrossed when they feed that i can pick them up with my fingers. when they aren't feeding, i can't get near them.

they leave brown spots on the leaves. let me go find a picture.

i shake the plants, there are never a bunch of them. just one here, a day or so later, one there. i know they are hiding in the jungle though. once i get this new stuff, ima soak the whole crop and room.

fortunately, they don't group up on a plant.

annoying little buggers. you do have a good point though, although they do some damage, i'll still have a lot more healthy leaves at harvest then the guys who cut off all their fan leaves during flower. :lol:

Ever try Habanero Pepper?

Take about .5 LBS of Habanero Pepper boil for 2-4 hours (.5 gal water)
Let cool
Put in spray bottle (1:1 - pepper to water - can do 2:1 if needed will not burn or stress plants)
Spray the plants during lights off

Soak plants - leafs, under leafs, stems and most importantly the soil. Use what is left to water the top soil!


Nothing beats it... Been using it outdoors. Also helps keep pets off the herbs!

Yup. Make sure you rub your eyeballs after working on your plants a couple weeks down the road as well. Or touch your dick after trimming. Its a treat.

I had them sunsabitches 'bout 2 years ago..I felt like a tweaker , I'd be on my hands and knees searching under the leaves. They also seemed to hang where leaf meets at the main stalk. Wouldn't wish those bastards on anyone..but yeah leafhopper..mine had more of a pointier wing tips ..good luck eradicating them..peace

Plants absorb through the leafs and stems! What about pest spray like Azamax? In your theory the pest spray will be present in a couple weeks? WRONG.

Like Azamax, habanero pepper will be absorbed or degraded by sun, water, air and other elements. Like any other product it can be used incorrectly.

Have you tried DE [diatomatious earth] sp?. Might work on them... Organic, non-toxic. It cuts the critter's shells and they desiccate. Available at pool supply places. Wear particle mask...it is colloidal in size...powder

I'll try that exact recipe on a plant for shits and giggles i mean education...lol. So 1/2 pound of habanero got it, but with the 1/2 gallon of water is that at just when it starts or do you continue to add water to it so it stays at a 1/2 gallon ??

I don't think those are leaf hoppers from where the damage is happening: Leaf hoppers will generally hang out at the nodes and blend in very easily with female calyx's, they bite into the stems and suck the sap, and also bury their eggs in the stems. Are they leaving little black poopies around? Might be thrips but the pictures are difficult to make out on my end. Just neem whatever it is 5 days apart and don't look back. Good luck
