yeah you could ive used that large cfl bulb before without reflector for one decent sized skunk plant in dwc.. i would use more light.. those cfls dont last too long anyway.. if you were gonna use 2 plants under the 250w cfl id say go for it but i would lst the plants if you could and(or) prune them and keep taking clones.. it depends what light cycle your clones are in also.
Screen is great. If the clones are rooted swtich em to 18/6 lighting.. if clones are not yet rooted, most perfer to keep them on 24/0 till they root and keep whatever your clones are in light tight so roots are nice and healthy..
yes plenty enough watts for rooting clones for sure. that warm bulb will work fine but if you want better results use a neutral or cooler color cfl.. in the bubbler you want the stems very very close to water but not submerged. use some good cloning gel or powder and the bubbles will hit the stems and sometimes it will take quite a while so be patient.. its better to have more clones as some (1-2) usually die.. use a dome and spray keep moist. no prob
aha, had little space to work with and the mh was set to 500 watts and was about 3 feet from the clones. Still overkill I know, but I didn't have a cardboard box to convert to a tiny clone box at the time. I had planned on stapling mylar to the walls but figured that would be overkill as well. Those cuttings were indeed getting 500 watts however for a 24 hour period. They stayed completely perky all through the night and next day with no dome.
You think the dome is needed? I have read that keeping the leaves in a more humid environment makes it "too" comfortable so it takes longer to root cause it has very little moisture requirements. And as for keeping the cutting tips just out of the water, is that to prevent root rot? I saw an argument on this matter in another post and someone proposed that by having it barely in the water it acts as an aeroponic cloner where the bubbles burst water onto the stem, and a dwc cloner where the tip is submerged in contact with bubbles. Sounds like sound thinking to me?
