exhaust system

will this work? what size extractor kit do i need? would it be better to have the carbon filter in the tent sucking the air in then out the tent? this method i think works as ive used it before but for a different size room. what size fan and what ever will i need for this? remember the holes on the hoods r 6" so id have to use a 6" extractor fan? and that wont suck enough through will it? so maybe have a 6" and a 5" and just set up 2 extractor kits?

Better to have the carbon filter before the reflectors. Keeps dirt and contaminants out. I'd probably go with an 8" inline fan. Going to need a lot of CFM to cool 3 lights.

You can get 8" to 6" duct reducers from lowes. They're only a few bucks. You could even get a 10" inline fan and get a 10" to 6" reducer

Move the CF to the other end of ur setup..before ur lights.. like u said. Id use atleast a 8" inline fan on a speed controller with a 8"x6" reducer. I've heard of folks usin a 6" for 2 600's, 3 might b pushin it. Better safe then sorry .02

lol, it's funny how are posts are basically the exact same. Just different wording. Great minds indeed.

A room of that size I would think you should have a ventilation system for the lights AND for the room itself. I don't think the lights need filtered air... but if you did two ventilation systems that wouldn't even be a conversation. Also, with independent light ventilation you can intake from outside the room at ground level for the coolest of air - in my situation the building was built on a slab and the floor is min 5 degF cooler than head level, so that's where I draw my air!

The reason you filter the air before the lights is so dust and dirt doesn't get in and cover the glass reducing the lumen that the plants are getting. I agree that it would be best to have an exhaust fan for the lights and one for the room.

ill go with the carbon filter before the lights and ill use a 6" extractor through that and another extractor kit in there at the top to keep temps down and get a fan speed/temp controler... do i need a intake fan?

If ur gottn run 2 fans ull connect one just to the CF,this exhausts warm stinky air and sucks in the fresh air thru ur passive intake holes. The other one for the lights just sucks air thru ur ducting and hoods cooling the bulbs which let's u get ur bulbs closer to the canopy..OR like we suggested using one 8" fan to do both. bongsmilie .02
