ph adjustments

Hey all, just started to see some curled down fan leaves and some minor spotting so i phed my run off...well its reading about 8. My question is how do i go about lowering it using the liquid ph down? Maybe dumb question but thanks in advance. Btw my tap water is about 6... Should i say fuck it and flush it and renew my nute uptake?

Hey...just a few questions so I can get a better picture. What are you using for nutrient and how often are you feeding? When you water, are you watering with straight tap water at a pH of 6 or are you adjusting to around 6.5 as you should? Also, the nutrient will cause acidity when added to water so are you adding nutrient then adjusting your ph to 6.5 as you should? Adjusting pH up or down is fairly simple...just check your pH baseline(before adjustment) then add a drop of pH up or down depending on where you need to be. After each drop, shake the mix thoroughly and check pH. Repeat this until you reach your desired pH reading. Hope this helps...happy growing!

If the nutrients are locked out from the pH then flushing shouldn't do anything - you're dealing with deficiency not toxicity. Make sure your water/feed is pH'ed properly before it goes in... then the run off should be fine. I live in limestone country and the tap water is very alkaline... but the pH'ed food/water I give my plants has a run off that is still balanced.

Im running fox farm nutes. I do ph my water before watering and feeding...that's why i can't figure out why the run off is so high..

Are you using a trust worthy tester? I went cheap with the testing strips at first and thought my 9.2 water was 7.0 until I bought my bluelab pen.

If you are going to use ph down do it gradually over a weeks time. Maybe a couple notches down each water or feed. Don't do it all at once it may shock them. And get a good meter. I never trust my ph from the runoff. I'm running an organic medium and don't ph or check anything.

Are they in veg or flower? What's the soil mix? Usually small adjustments are ideal but if it's already in stress you might as well drop it down right away. Maybe soak it in 5.5 for a few minutes then flush with a little more fresh 5.5.

Can PH down get so old that it is not as effective as it use to be ? I never had to use a capful in a 5 gallon buckedt,closer to 2 this time.It's a little over 1 year old. I guess it could be 5 years to.I don't know,I might be been high for a while.
