Lets raise the morale of RIU

alright guys,

I've noticed most people don't even reply to a thread and maybe don't even look at it if the title doesn't involve something awesome like "Need help yellow leaves massive OG KUSH JILLY BEAN HYBRID 5000K WATTS SUPER GROW"


People are not giving a lot of the newer people the time of day.

I realize how frustrating it is when you have to see thread after thread posted with the same dang questions "Is this a boy?" "when do I water?". I realize people don't know how to use the search function and it's annoying.


But some of these people post with no questions, They're just showing people their first grow. Looking for some recognition and encouragement.


My point is do you know what happens to these new people that no one replies to? they leave. They go to another forum where people reply to them.



So for the past 45 minutes I have been digging through threads and replying only to newb threads that have 0 and sometimes 1 reply. I am not an expert grower, But I don't need to be. I can answer the ones I do know the answer to and in return encourage more members to stick with RIU and keep this site known for more than just a bunch of people thumbs'upping 1000k grows with gnarly strains.



Just something to think about next time you open a thread from a newb and don't reply to it even though you know the answer.

There are plenty of amazingly tasty grows on RIU for us all to slobber over. Lets just keep in mind that we have the power and responsibility to influence and guide the next generation of growers.

Dissenting opinion. I think it's a grand idea. I remember how I felt as a ten-post stripling, and if it weren't for some site vets who saw fit to reply, I'd have been left in the cold a lot longer. Jmo. cn

dude, its hard for anything over the net. its going to get different in time. but noobs want quick answers, ive learned in life if you get a fast answer you less likely to appreciate it. suchs but it does happen. the only thing RIU needs is a new color layout and to beef up its stuff somehow by selling tobacco pipes at a good price. this site is the best on the net. hard to make it better but the guy who owns it just wants it to be a pot forum and nothing more. show me a site that is better than RIU and ill switch, but there isnt a single place as active with so many members and so much info around. RIU could explode with new things and ideas for 2013 but its all on what the owner wants it too be not what the people want.

I could show you a forum that use to be better than RIU. But it switched owners about a year back, and after the switch all of the long time members scattered else where. It's packed with so much information it's ridiculous that it's just farting away into cyber space. When I came back to growing it was the first place I went, I was stoked. But I was quickly deflated by the realization that all the gurus had left and it was now a ghost town (cept for some new people).



It use to be called gardenscure you can google it to find the new name. I still go there from time to time and read old stickies. It's like going back to my old stomping ground.

I agree though, RIU is the best now. That's why I signed up here after looking at 6 or 7 other forums.

RIU has grown so much that there's allot crap to wade through. The search function could use some tweeking imho too. If a persons question isn't answered it usually because it doesn't appear the search button was used at all It's not all that often a question goes by without a reply.
