The horsepower wars...whaddaya think?

I've been around for a bit, lived through the 60-70's the era of the muscle car - Copo Camaros, and Shelby 'stangs. And then the fall into the depths of the 80-90's Plymouth Volares and K-cars. Since then, technology has allowed for the development of insanely powered "street cars" both domestic and exotic - like the 2008 Audi RS6 with 580hp - o this years 600hp Viper or 650hp Corvette ZR-1.

Do you have some favorites - whaddaya really think about the current horsepower war - what are the extreme examples that pop out for you, and how do they compare to the "original" muscle cars?

For me, I have favorites, but the range is enormous - I am a total Ferrari nut - going all the way back to the original late 40-50's GT Mille Miglia cars up to today's mega-dollar road cars! The reality is I could fill a thiry car garage in about 6 microseconds! yea ok...totally obsessed, I know.

saw a thread that started out as a effort to seek reasonable assistance to noobs...and turned into a car discussion....with the thought that we could start a car thread...I started this one a while back that went nowhere...maybe it can gain some grip now?

I see Quad has his favs....911T, Corvette, and Jag 220. I am an old vintage ferrari nut...though I always say I could fill a garge.....no matter how big it was if I have the resources....my total favs.....'62 250GTO, '62 250GT SWB, 430 Scuderia (interior pic included)....but the reality is if it has wheels, I'm interested!

GTO without a doubt! Love em

Personally, i rode in a 360 Modena with Ferrari after market upgrades, and i gotta say, favorite car of all time. The roar of the engine behind you screaming as the rpm's peak... god... just thinking about it... Kinda makes me wanna make love to a beautiful woman

Because any good ferrari, is like a fine piece of ass... Hard to obtain, but once you have it, you would never let it go

Was just recently riding in an audi s4, 2005 I believe. We hit the offramp at 130 and I thought we were going into the sacramento river for sure. I want an audi now. :)

you can sign it over to me, call it even. :)
Good luck. It's out of my range and I don't really need to be paying off any more loans right now. Someday we will have to coordinate a smokeout of the californian population of RIU. You can bring it there FDD and we'll joyride for a bit.

I love hash.:mrgreen::hump::mrgreen::joint::mrgreen::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump:

nice nice piece Cali! Mustangs from so many different years have a great history. I just saw a new GT500 Shelby last night, sweet low end burble. And I love black! Saw a white 997 tturbo - didn't look right.

Guy I knew had a 1968 Charger that put out 550hp at rear wheels....Had a giant
clip on the dash and would put any bet in it and if you could grab it when he took his foot off the clutch it was your's. Me I liked the Mustangs...had a 1969 351 GT...
1969 390 GT and a 1970 cobra............the only problems with them all was wheel well problems....and that fucking power steering hose that you always see hanging underneath........WTF

We don't get much American muscle in the UK. We have our 'hot hatches' though (which you need for the twisty roads here).

Personally I have a MK3 Vauxhall (GM) Astra MK3 2.1 16v Turbo..... 300bhp in there with a curb weight of 1050KG, so roughly 295bhp to the ton :)

It puts most things to bed, gets boring owning it though since no one wants to have a go :(

My first car was supposed to be a 65 fastback, it was a dream come true when my dad came home with it my freshman year and said it'd be mine when we weredone with it. Stripped, primered, new glass... then my mother sold it becauseit "made our yard look a junkyard" and she needed to pay offbills or some bullshit. I was fucking pissed, still am. 65 fastback is without a doubt my favourite car EVER. Such a fucking beautiful machine...
