Just a couple questions concerning one month plant! Input appreciated! (pics)

Hi there! So this is my first post, and grow, and I'm a little less than a month in from seed. I have no idea what strain this is, as it was a random seed. I wasn't very committed to it at first, and have since taken quite a liking to the little plant. Anyways, I feel like i'm doing a relatively good job considering I haven't done much with it, spent very very little money (really), and am completely inexperienced. It's only about six inches tall and on it's ninth node.


A little info about my setup:
- Lights: I have about (3) 6500k 800 lumen CFLs and (3) 5500k 1200 lumen CFLs (So let's say around 6000 total). They range from 1.5-4 inches away from the plant, depending on the area.
- It's in a pretty open space right now indoors until it gets a little bigger. There's a fan on it most of the time, and the stem seems strong because of it.
- It's in a mixture of regular and organic miracle grow potting mix (I know, I know). The PH is for sure a little high (7.5 ish?) I just started watering with distilled, so i'm gonna try and flush it a little bit to bring it down. But it has been in this soil since Day 1.


I'm mostly posting to find out:
1. If it looks alright for being a month in (from what i've googled it does but, i'm hoping for some experienced opinions)
2. What I should do about the tips yellowing? i'm not entirely sure of which nutrient is causing this, and I don't want to mess with it too much.
3. I was thinking of supercropping it soon, good idea? bad idea? trying to keep the height minimal.

hey ,your plant looks nice man.Its nice and green and looks healthy..

your size is a bit small for 4 weeks ,but that is to be expected with cfl lighting..

that yellowing at the tip looks like nutrient burn ...although i'm not sure..7.5 is def to high ,so it may be related to that..ph your water going in to 6 ..you can use vinegar ..

2. A little damage on the tips is okay, as long as it does not spread down the leaves
3. Supercrop it soon, so it can have plenty of time to get right before you flip it to 12/12

Other than that, looks like a very nice plant m8.

i'd get that PH down and get it on a nute schedule. now i've heard a million things on red stems (genetics, cold nights) but i really think it's something to do with PH and or nutrients. Honestly if you had the time and or money i would just get it out of that soil. But if thats not an option I would deff. tackle that PH.

It looks healthy. Supercop and start training now while its small. Start on some good veg nutes at 1/4 strength, followed by plain water twice and repeat with veg nutrient again. More cfl's will help too

Thanks for your input! I'm re-replying because I tried to on my phone earlier and it wasn't working so well. She's a little younger than a month from the beginning of germination so I wouldn't necessarily deem it small. it's starting it's tenth node today at about six inches tall! And, yeah i'm definitely thinking nute burn because my room is about 75 degrees and she's got a fan.

thanks for your suggestions! I'll be adding a few more when I move her to hold me over until flowering (since i'm gonna have to supplement some lower color temps). Also, i'm afraid more nutrients will only further complicate my yellowing problem, no?

Yes Id hold off on nutrients. When you start, go gradually, water with plain water, and again with plain water, and repeat nutes. Observe plants after adding nutes. Adding more light is good! Your smaller cfl's can move closer looking at the picture. I find 1/2" to an inch from plant is even better. As long as your cfl's dont touch and scorch! I purchased some nice 100 actual watt 2700K cfl's for flowering on Amazon ($20 per bulb youch) They put out lots of bright yellow sunshine though, and give off a little heat.

I'd get it out of the Miracle Grow and into something better, like Fox Farm. It will make your life easier. He/she does look a bit hungry but it could be nute lockout caused by ph or lack of nutes. Red stems and light green color leaves are pre-signs that she is not getting enough N or P. Best to solve the problem now.

I see some sativa in her so she may stretch quite a bit during flower. If it were me, I'd transplant into better soil, let the roots establish for about a week, and see if she greens back up. You may see proflowers by then, or you can switch to flower and she will show within days.

Ah, well it's in MG now, so i'm thinking I might just repot her into something with no nutes then add them through watering... not entirely sure yet though because my last repot wasn't stellar. I had them a little closer and a couple branches grew into them overnight so now I get nervous. Thankfully my lights are not very hot at all. I'll check out those flowering lights, though I am on a relatively strict budget for this sudden hobby haha. Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I get tremendously nervous when considering another repot because i'm realllly inexperienced and she seems to be growing okay for what little i've done, i'd hate to mess it all up. I have a PH reader, so it's definitely the fact that it's too high. Do you think it would make more sense for me to try and flush it out? Also, I think that the pictures make her look slightly yellow, when she is, in actuality, very green. Thanks again.

Transplanting isn't that hard. You can do damage when the roots aren't established but when they're that old it'll recover even if you break/tear some roots.

If she's settled down by now in the current soil though, you may be okay.
